RHD Dylan Coghlan is on wavers. Is he any good? I mean, as good as say Kovacevic was. I assuming they are not putting Shea Weber type on wavers. :D

For us no, for a team looking at futures yes..
If all you're willing to mention as a possible bargaining chip is the Flames pick you shouldn't have replied to me because it aint anywhere near enough for either of those 2 players.

But feel free to post such a trade in the proper forum and disprove me.

From everyone's favorite insider:

  • Calgary’s Rasmus Andersson and Montreal’s Mike Matheson each have one more year remaining on their respective contracts after this season. Teams will poke on their availability a little more aggressively soon after the calendar flips to 2025.

Just take the BPA and it isn't an issue. If it was Brady, Hughes, Dobson.. whatever.. but it certainly was never Kotkaniemi or Reinbacher
It's still very much an issue because even universal consensus BPA guys bust/disappoint/don't reach Dobson's level.

Going with BPA from these boards we probably end up with Brule, Galchenyuk, Zadina, Wright, Michkov, Demidov, so not sure that actually helps any. And looking beyond our own draft picks it's pretty easy to see that guys drafted in that 3-5 range fail fairly regularly.

I could see Demi emerge as 2c.
That would solve all of our top 6 problems.

Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Heineman - Demidov - Laine

I could see a Heineman bullying his way into the top 6 by then. If Dach turns things around it could be Dach playing there. Or maybe the 2025 pick plays in that spot.

I think NYR and Vancouver should be interested in Matheson.

maybe a surprise coming?

"There will be "negotiations" between the representatives of the Montreal Canadiens present in Russia and the SKA of Saint-Petersburg, today, concerning Ivan Demidov." - TVA Sports
Obviously knowing that the organization managed to make the trip to Russia and, in addition, that there will be "negotiations", is enough to excite CH fans.

Moreover, compared to the term used in Russian according to MatchTV, "peregovory", it does indeed mean negotiation or talks.

But does that mean that Hughes and Lecavalier will return to Montreal with a brand new Demidov in their suitcases?" - TVA Sports
I think TVA has taken the wording/translation used in the SKA coaches interview and spun it to imply 'negotiations' means actual negotiations. When i read that quote from the coach, i got the impression he meant they would talk with the Habs brass the next day, not necessarily 'negotiate' with them.
