Hopefully we can move from 26 to the teens while giving up 1-2 non-core players and 2nd-3rd-rounders, even if it means a 3-way trade. There is bound to be a tremendous talent, such as Catton, who drops. Buium-Catton or Demidov-Catton would inject talent into the prospect pool. Hopefully HuGo can stitch something together, even if it means eating up some salary.

All I want is to acquire a “nice piece for sure.”

It’s always said that one player isn’t the magic pill and it’s always agreed by people like me but somehow other teams try to acquire good players to improve their roster as often as they can whilst we have our own fans poo-pooing every option and supporting the franchise’s bitter conservatism.

You know who’s better in your top9 than Heineman or Farrell? Patrick Laine.

I’d rather root for a former 40g scorer than not. Call me crazy.

Somehow adding talent is always too expensive, too risky, too much for the Habs.
We always talk about acquiring nice pieces for the future, for me the focus should be developing the pieces we have. Currently on the second line we have Dach and Roy which I believe are two very nice pieces that have lots of potential for growth. Having someone like Laine with them would help that progression but there are many other options also (Stamkos for 2 years, toffoli for two years, Mantha could be an option) All we want is a stop gap until
I doubt this changes anything for Anderson. Goodrow's cap hit is 2 million lower and he's actually useful on the PK and PLD has far more upside than Anderson.

We are stuck with Anderson unless we retain 50%, but I'm assuming Hughes doesn't want to rush this trade.
Anderson will come back with a fruitful season this year. I am convinced, the guy most probably was cursed last year. He was as unlucky as somone can get.

not sure what opinion piece I read this on but I think bpm but Devils traded a Left D in the Markstrom trade and they were already short on D and they’re still dangling that 10 OA pick

This makes Matheson an even more attractive piece for them. I personally don’t think we should be trading him but if we can walk away with two top 10 talents in the draft this year, we have to consider it.

Ok here’s the link: «Les Devils voudraient un défenseur gaucher»

They are short on Ds who can play defense...not sure they are even looking at Matheson.

More like Bedard + Demidov (CHI) or Smith + Celebrini (SJS).

I pick Chicago, 100%.
Id take (C) Smith & (C) Cellibrini personally, i honestly dont think Bedard is going to be able to last (full seasons) as a 1C.
Eiserman is a pure goal scorer, probably the only one at this calibre in 2 years. At 6'1" 195lbs, he's got that tank build. Demidov coming off of knee/ankle injuries, and more slight concerns me too..

For Habs at 5, i want more certainty on size/health, which has made me sour on Lindstrom and Demidov. I'd prefer Eiserman, Iginla, Sennecke, until orherwise noted.

Keep Matheson after a season record which probably wont even recreate would be a L for this ORG. Don't bring the vet presences as an excuse
Selling Matheson high is the smartest thing hugo can do. He's not part of our future, and id rather have that ice time for the young guns.
Or you can hold on to him like Andy et al.

You're going to be called a bad fan and impatient and rude to the honour and dignity of Kent Hughes if you propose he made a mistake by holding onto Josh Anderson.

Friedman said that the Jackets would have to add to move Laine aka he's trade value is negative right now.
If he's just a cap-dump, he'd be moved by now and any gutter team would gladly take him at zero risk and a full cap hit.

Someone like Struble would interest them for sure, but I guess they will just sign some experienced UFA like Martinez, Dillon or Ekman-Larsson.

I think i heard somewhere that they will likely target Dillon.
That's the type of D vet they'll look for. Big and physical.

I'm not sure Dillon will change much. Yes we do need steady defensive minded vets to complement the green core but Dillon is at the tail end of his career and is ideally a bottom pairing guy anyway. Would welcome him at a low price though, 2 years and 2.5M AAV or something like that.

I don't think Markstrom is that good and he's old. Goalies, even young ones, aren't worth much in trades.
He's old? Thought he was 28-29? For a Dman that's not old.
He just had a career year, at 62 pts..............he is no Shea Weber in his own end, but the guy just had a great year, and has a ton of value, and his contract, oh yea it's under 5M........................

We were talking Dillon to NJD, not to Habs. The context was that NJD is targeting LHD defensive minded D and we might have some pieces here :)

And I don’t see what they can offer that is interesting
Holtz or Mercer would be interesting pieces if you are building the trade aorund Struble.
