That's how he plays hockey

Did you watch him in his draft year?

I'm not saying that's a good or bad thing, just that it's nothing new
I didn't see a ton of him last year but WTF. I am not a scout but how in the world did he end up being the #2 overall? He skates OK, he isn't physical, his shot is mediocre at best at all and lacks effort at times...I get he is 19 but he should have some skills that are off the charts for a selection that high....now add the off ice stuff and I would be worried.

I think you need to learn how to watch hockey. He skates pretty well, and he has a decent amount of skill. I wasn't a huge fan of the pick ,but to say he doesn't have the skill or skating, is just, wrong.

Oh I know how to watch hockey. I am not saying he doesn't have skill....I am saying he doesn't seem to have any elite skills that would make him the #2 overall selection. If I am picking a kid at #2 he should have some elite level characteristics....maybe an unreal shot or fantastic size or great skating ability. Lev to me looks like just another guy out there. I don't think I have seen one highlight play all season long.

The off ice stuff? He f***ing overslept and missed 1 meeting.
What off ice stuff are you referencing?

Come on man, take the L. You made a foolish post that made little sense.
Sure, it’s however you want it to be.

You are the one who made statements of fact about something you have no way of knowing is factual.

Oh ok, carry on insulting Hawk prospects and saying they need "blankies", and implying that me actually laying out the facts as they stand related to Isaak Phillips is somehow the equivalent because you put the word IF in front of it.

Ridiculous...

You PRETEND you know facts (that you have no way of knowing) and my post is foolish?

Just pretend it’s anyway you want it to be.
What facts did I "pretend" to know? Seriously what are you even talking about. Do you understand stuff like prospects, salary cap, waiver-exemption, restricted free agency.. like at all?

If (IF) it becomes public that the team took the L (talent wise) because they are convinced Lev needs a blankie it certainly could be telling.
because this does not seem like you do

You don’t know the facts as they relate to Phillips. You don’t KNOW that the Jets didn’t contact Chicago seeking a more experienced and cheap 6-7-8 guy.
You f***ing made up a scenario and claimed it as a fact.
Most posts on the trade board and the Jets board feel the jets got the better player.
Some are saying (not me) that this was done to give him a friend in Rockford.
I WROTE that I thought it had more to do with buying 2 years (renew the lottery ticket) but IF it was in fact taking an L on the value in /value out to help out the kid that would be a red flag.

Now go f*** yourself.

Yes I do. Everything I laid out is public information, formed from being a fan and following the team. Feel free to refute any of them, of course you cannot.

What? Who said they didn't? Sure, perhaps they did kick the tires on finding a cheap organizational depth guy and the Hawks were like "hey yeah actually, we have a guy that may be ok if he gets a chance". In fact, my post supports/not contradicts that.
You f***ing made up a scenario and claimed it as a fact.
I did no such thing.
Most posts on the trade board and the Jets board feel the jets got the better player.
...and I would agree, but outlined the reasons the Hawks would be ok in a "do right" fashion to trade him anyways.
Some are saying (not me) that this was done to give him a friend in Rockford.
What you don't understand is the primary impetus was not "we need to find a way to get Lev a friend, how do we do that??" but more so a "do right" to Phillips so he has a better shot of securing an NHL Contract next season and the warm body going the other way just so happened to be a friend of a top prospect, rather than than a thousand other guys it could have been

Yes, it's your "IF... then RED FLAG" that is foolish and for which you ought to just accept was a silly premise.
Now go f*** yourself.
lol

You are such an angry poster all the time. Take a breath, sheesh.

I didn't see elite skill at MSU or in Rockford; I saw GOOD skill across the board.

Lev reminds me of a more offensive aware version of Seth Jones - good skater & stickhandler but nothing amazing. His shot seems like a "get it on net" thing; I didn't really see him shoot to score.

I remain concerned about his "give a damn." I hope Rockford makes the playoffs so we can get a truer test of his grit.

What I think what the scouts see is much more than Jones. But there's really not many good players to compare Lev's ceiling to.

They see a rover with a monster stride & physical prowess that can turn the puck around and tilt the ice making the rest of the team's job of creating offense easier. Lev's best shifts he interferes on D traditionally or creatively, turns the puck north and covers 200ft with ease. If he can take his stride to elite level he could be a monster. The way he covers ground north/south or east/west gives him that extra bit that allows him to constantly disrupt play. But, again, he needs to take that stride to to elite NHL level. It's been elite at all the lower levels but the NHL is a different animal.

He's really got zero fancy to his game. He's more like a guy who has the gift of movement to allow himself to work smarter and not harder. When watching his MSU games there were many times I thought "what the hell is he doing" and it worked just because he's in a spot 1/2 second fast than others expect.

I think it was fair to wonder what the chances of him hitting that ceiling are, and it still is. Some said he carried a bad MSU team last year, basically the same team is 18-2-2 so far this year...lol.

We all need to cross our fingers.

Totally agree in all areas of your post. I just want to see more of such a high draft pick. He may have a ton of shots on net but many are just weak wrist shots....I think everything went right for him at MSU last year and his value got inflated too much. Hopefully he puts it together but I have serious doubts at this point.

What a strange thread this turned out be.
Strange for this and other threads is a word that does not come to mind. There's multiple instances I've scrolled past shit storm threads in the past week. Makes me long for the thoughts of justinfieldsisbest before I put him on ignore.
