Brodin for Chytil is still what intrigues me. Brodin is exactly what the Rangers need to pair with Trouba. The left side of their defense is bad. Chytil is young and has some realistic upside as a 1st line center.

The question to me is whether you can get that deal done without JEE. Lias Anderson hasn't looked great this year, so the Rangers are going to probably need a middle-6 center coming back. Unless they are comfortable with putting Strome back as the 2C.

I’d do it. Chytil is a stud

Hopefully nothing. It sounds like multiple teams have decided he's too slow and if he can't crack the Rangers 4th line as a center? No thanks.
I see. I didn’t know that. I’ve not see him much. Probably one of those that just ends up being a bad pick. Statistically, he is on a similar track as Ek.

He might make a good reclamation project, but if he's requesting a trade because he's stuck in the AHL? I don't know what you do with a player like that.

I’d take a chance on him if the price were right. He’s not worse than Sturm or Johnson (especially Johnson), and when the lineup is healthy he’d have to be at least comparable to Rask.

Maybe that’s where NY is interested in one of our many defensemen, or a 4th or 5th, or maybe even a guy like Johnson or Sturm to replace his role.

Call me skeptical on being better than Sturm, who I think has carried himself well on the 3rd line so far.

If they want to swap him for Rask, go for it.

Sturm has been solid. I don't think Andersson is necessarily better. I think he's not worse.

Reading through the main board thread for Andersson, lots of NYR fans aren't fans of his at all. I wonder if they actually wouldn't take Rask for him. Even if Andersson turns into nothing, it dumps Rask's contract, and NYR will get a viable bottom 6 center to replace what Andersson brings and more.

I have to imagine Rask's contract makes it a nonstarter. He's been good as the 4C here and I think he could do the same for NYR if that's what they need, but at $4m? That's a tough one.

I was banking on NYR being happy enough with just getting an NHL player back, as opposed to what I can imagine is going to be a lot of other offers involving AHLers and other meh prospects who will probably never make it, that they'd be fine with the salary. Maybe we eat 500k-1M to make it happen?

I'm probably way off, but it's at least something I'd explore.

I'd take a flyer on him if he was cheap to get. Make a line with him and two of Donato, Fiala, or Parise and see what happens.

When the roster is healthy he'd be back in the same situation he is now: playing in the AHL. I can't say he's any better or worse than Strum or Rask (who seems to be fitting really well on the 4th line).

You don't need a chart to illustrate this at this point, but I'll include one anyway.

Shot Rates: R (Blue)
Shot Quality: Q (Yellow)
Shooting: SH (Green)
Goaltending: SV (Pink)

This is a good team that controls shot quality in both directions and should be solidly in a playoff spot. Goaltending has been hobbling them for two years now and this year is worse than ever. The best goalie in the organization is currently in Iowa and should really stay there for the time being.

Going into the Christmas trade freeze Guerin has a clear choice: he can either trade for a goalie or flush this season down the drain. I think either option is defensible, but pick one.

Any ideas?

Georgiev out of New York. DeSmith or Jarry out of Pittsburgh. Maybe Markstrom out of Vancouver.

I should add that the "flush the season" plan basically means standing pat. I think Koivu's our only expiring contract and I don't really expect him to waive for a deadline trade. I wouldn't expect a big sell-off or anything like that.

Jarry is basically the full-time starter in Pitt right now. No way they trade him.

I've seen Penguins fans go back and forth over the year, but that wouldn't surprise me. Still, they've got a decision to make and even DeSmith would be an upgrade over the gongshow we've got here.

Enough of an upgrade to make the playoffs? Enough of an upgrade to win a playoff series? The Cup?

Now this is a funny rumor from Eklund.

"Drew Doughty and Top Prospect for Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith"

Same as the Dubnyk trade. Try something now so you have an idea of what you have/need next year. The plan can't be to start next season with Dubnyk and Stalock, so the sooner you start trying to fix it, the sooner it will be fixed.
