So the Kings are now healthy scratching both Spence and Clarke. Mess of a franchise, neither of those guys should be getting scratched.

I've obviously been vocal about wanting Clarke, but I think I'd ultimately be pretty satisfied with a Spence and Greentree package for Rakell as well.

What do you mean?

Spence has played very well this year from what I can tell so it makes no sense that he's being scratched.

IMO they should just move Gavrikov to LD and have both Spence and Clarke playing. Go with something like:

Gavrikov-Doughty
Anderson-Spence
Edmundson-Clarke

Anderson - Gavrikov has been the best defensive pairing in the league this year. That's why they aren't breaking it up.

That gives them Edmundson - Doughty. And then they are swaping Clarke and Spence in.

Pretty sure our coach wouldn't do any better...

Reactions: Pens x
Rakell would instantly be every team's top goal scoring guy outside of 10 teams; Edmonton, Toronto, Winnipeg, Boston, Tampa, Washington, Florida, Montreal, Buffalo and Detroit.

The price for Rantanen's gonna be huge *and* the team needs to have a deal ready to go to sign him, likely north of $13M AAV.

It's pretty much Rakell, or a longshot for Boeser, if you're a team looking to load up for a playoff push or deep playoff run.

Don't f*** this up, Dubas. You have to take advantage of the season Rakell's having, and the insane market atm.

Spence has been up and down this year, but when he's been down he's been real down. I like Spence but it feels like LA is trying everything they can to prioritize clarkes potential over Spence and I could see them sending Spence out either at the deadline or at the draft to open the door 100 percent for Clarke.

I really like Greentree but can't see them parting with him, even for rackell who would be their leading scorer.

Looking over their team page, I can't believe their most productive defender as twenty less points than EK does this year...

If you somehow added rackell and ek to the kings roster they would be dangerous this year in the playoffs.

I mean we have no one on waivers so we can’t have too many forwards or D we can trade without being at a deficit, one each by my calculations assuming Novak and Schenn are available to play Friday…that means all of Beau, Acciari, and Rakell won’t be traded…maybe only one of them…and probably not both of Grz and Schenn

When does WBS play next? We can probably see their lines tonight and see who may be coming up for tomorrow's game...aka Nieto lol

I am shocked you're just making stuff up in your head to complain about

The PensXYZ Guide to the TDL:

1. Do not look at what has done, concentrate on what has not been done.
2. Read what the Pens might do but create your own arbitrary demands that will never reach Dubas or the FO.
3. Make obscene value judgments.
4. Assign a value to each confirmed trade using the following formula:
Our trade: Dubas got bad value. Insert arbitrary demand of (actual pick received + one round) and (inclusion of team's best prospect determined by draft ranking and draft year). If 1st round pick was received, insert arbitrary demand of (one additional 1st round pick).
Any other teams' trade: Good value and include "I wish Dubas would have done that".
5. Until a trade is announced, post negative comments about how Dubas won't trade them.
6. Post comments suggesting the TDL has passed even though it has not.

The only reason the Pens would need to have put anyone on waivers is if they were sending a player down to make cap space. They don't need to do that.
For one, they've got around 11M in pro-rated cap space for the deadline already.
For another, they're sellers, so they're not exactly looking to bring in more cap space than they ship out, in the end (though, as above, they've got 11M to work with in terms of bringing back cap dumps to make trades work, if they need to).

It's not like they haven't managed to net the same number of players via their trades so far:
- Petterson and DOC out, Heinen and Desharnais in
- Desharnais and Bunting out, Novak and Schenn in (yes, those were two different trades, but the net result was no change in the number of roster players)
