If nothing else, the PK improvement (and frankly just an overall body of work to judge vs a flash in the pan for Comrie) is worth a 4th round pick.

It shows that result for each team with Talbot having nearly twice the minutes. Maybe Talbot can come in and learn/adapt to how the Sabres play while they learn/adapt to him. Yet it is such a volatile position, we don't know for sure that Talbot can walk in and have more success than Comrie. If we looked at those same charts for last year, with Comrie in Winnipeg and Talbot in Minnesota... you would take Comrie every day.

Maybe add a player for a 2 round and depth forward for lower pick ?

Will johnson sign and play next season? Finding replacement for Okposo, a D if Johnson not ready .

Skinner Thompson Tuch
Peterka Cozens Quinn
Mittlestadt Krebs Olofsson
Girgensons Jost Okposo
Asplund

Dahlin Samuelsson
Power Johnson
Lyubuskhin Jokiharju
Bryson

But......there's no Meier extension in place. So that'll sap a bunch of value.

Either way if they don't sign him before having to qualify him it's going to be an interesting summer. He might click instantly with NJ and want to stay long term or he might just take the one year deal and walk to UFA. The Meier saga won't be over for a while.

Sure, and in the meantime, you’ll agree that we can accurately say that he has been conservative in declining to actually make any additions.

meh, I’m not willing to call anyone aggressive or conservative with their actions when context has dictated what they do. Like you just said, we cant call him aggressive with trades because all the big trades he made were required by the context. But also, we can’t call him conservative because he’s been conservative due to the context of building a team through roster development.

If you want to qualify his many big trades with context, then I don’t agree at all with blanket “he’s been conservative”.

When it was time to try a win-now season, Adams signed the top free agent.

When it was time to rebuild, Adams traded away the entire old core in three trades none of us would reverse. Seriously, it looks like he won every one of those trades.

When it was time to build through the current roster and draft…Adams (and Granato) gifted us a 1C stud by giving Tage a chance to shine. Adams seemingly identified the right players for this stage. Hell, even Quinn was a disputed draft pick…and the kid is already doing alright in the NHL.

So I disagree anyone can him “conservative”. Or that he doesn’t do anything. He’s done what the situation demands. And he has done it mostly well.

When he believes it’s the time to add some players through trades, I have faith he’ll do it (well see if he does it well…). Because arguing he won’t is pretty baseless, he’s never been in the situation to do so before

It’s hard to find a spot on the roster for someone at FW that’s not the 4th line. Plus Kulich may push for a spot next year.

That Johnson spot on D is the only really spot you’d as a player at the deadline this year could keep.

Get a top 4 dman Adams. Our offense is fine, a top 4 D and a vet bottom 6 forward who can PK and play physical. It can be done with 2nds and peripheral prospects.
