Why does it seem like we overpay for our in coming players and dont get enough for our outgoing players?

Just part of being a sabres fan.

We overpay because we are reactive instead of proactive and wait until everyone knows we are a corner. We don't get enough for our outgoing players, because we fall in love with them and hold out hope until we finally realize what everyone else already knows, and we are forced to trade them for nothing to make room for the next prospect we love.

greenway alone has more potential valuable to this team in the near future than everything we traded away combined

I guess we made 6 trades, which is a pretty high volume, but it was a big pile of meh. Personally, I would have burned a 2nd for a rental D even if he was a bottom pair. We are now at a high risk of continuing to watch Clague play.
