Trade Deadline Predictions

Kennedy is not trade bait at this point, he's Cap balast. No one will move valuable players because they're getting Tyler Kennedy... I can tell you that right now. That's yinzer pipe dream. If we get a big fish, TK will be this year's Colby Armstrong... just along for the ride. Thing is, a team like STL or Anaheim would never agree to take Kennedy off our hands because of his cap hit and his redundancy with grinders already on their teams, several of whom are better players than he is.

If a team acquired Kennedy at the deadline, they would have to pay him roughly 250K since there would be only about 10 games left and he is a FA after this season. It wouldn't be a deal-breaker for another team to take on Kennedy's salary for 10 games + playoffs and at worst play him on the 4th line.

Orpik-Martin and Elmer-Nisky are set as pairs.

Have Despres and Niskanen had more than three shifts together? Hard to see how that means 'set' :).

All our D needs is for Bylsma to play Despres next to Letang. Then there is balance and great fits all around. At least as long as the team's overall D-efforts are kept.

Iginla and Torres please.

Koon Sid Iggy
Beau Geno Neal
Torres Sutter Dupuis
Cooke Vitale Adams

Madness.

I'll be ecstatic if Shero comes away from the deadline with 1 top six winger and 1 bottom six physical winger, preferably with some size. I'm not sure if either is available, or what the price would be, but adding Iginla and Ott/Clutterbuck would be my dream deadline.

Kunitz - Crosby - Iginla
Bennett - Malkin - Neal
Ott/Clutterbuck - Sutter - Dupuis
Cooke - Vitale - Adams

I honestly don't think the team needs to add defensemen. The guys we currently have are more than capable of being a Stanley Cup caliber defense. Especially with the way Martin is playing, and if Orpik can rebound. Maybe add a cheap veteran at the deadline for a 4th/5th round pick as injury insurance, but nothing else.

Despres - Letang
Orpik - Martin
Eaton/Engelland - Niskanen

That would be a dream lineup.

I think he will add some depth, a player that will play in the top 6, a player in the bottom 6 and maybe a #5-6 type of D

I hope he get's Iginla, I really do but I'm not ready to trade 2-3 prospects + picks and a roster player for him

Some teams would balk even at that 250K for what he brings, but the point is less that he's a deal-breaker than people need to stop thinking we'll get VALUE for him. The only reason to include Kennedy in a big-time trade is to make the money work. That's it.

I can see Carolina taking him.

He plays well with Staal, could be a good depth guy for them.

Staal is living the good life playing with Skinner now. He's probably hoping TK is gone from his career for good but I'm sure he has nightmares about the chest sniper showing up to play with him once more.

honestly, i think we're playing too good for any big changes. maybe a bottom guy for depth, but really don't see much moving. Iggy would be a pipe dream, but the cost will be too high and might gut the team too much imo.

A top 6 winger and a 3rd line crash and banger.

I think you're pretty much bang on with this one. They need more depth at forward and this would be perfect.

Ps. I don't believe that a top-6 winger needs to be a top-flight winger either. A complimentary top-6 guy would work fine.

I have a weird feeling we'll acquire Ryane Clowe. Whether that's a good thing or not, I don't know.

That's my take. Iggy will be too expensive, Stewart won't be available, MN is doing well enough not to trade Seto... SJ is ready to move some players... my money is on Clowe and Morrow (Dallas). Those guys have Shero written all over them IMO. At least in situations where the guys he really wants aren't available or are too expensive. Morrow I wouldn't be too happy about but Clowe I could be happy with if the price is fair.

I had a dream last night, no joke. I was watching the NHL Network and a show came on called "Sittin' Down with Shane." It was 30 minutes of Shane Endicott, and it all revolved around WIWI... I can't remember what WIWI stands for, What I did When I was in Pittsburgh, I think.

Anyhow, the point is: I woke up with this eery calm, taken over by the belief that Shero is sitting down at a poker table with 29 other GMs and he's about to ... whip ... the proverbial it... out on the table and go all in. I think he's going to blow some people away over the next 2 weeks.

Reasons posted by the Flames poster is very much why he won't cost near what everyone thinks if Iginla is driving/pushing the trade. His demands could end up being a single team driving the cost way down, but we know a GM will most likely do the right thing and give cose to fair trade value.

Roster player, 1st, and a pretty good, not great prospect.

two veteran left wingers would be a disaster (assuming neither acquisition is comfortable on the right). there's no way that Bylsma could resist the temptation of bumping Beau off the second line. i'm really down with Morrow for a few reasons: 1) the leadership and the hunger -we could use a fiery warrior type in the locker-room and Morrow more than Iginla might be looking at his last chance, 2) he's clearly a third-line guy (perhaps, second unit PP as well) i don't think Bylsma would make any dumb decisions with him, 3) he's more of a pure rental than Clowe, he's gone in the off-season. Shero won't be tempted to re-sign him, 4) Dallas fans aren't demanding the a lot for him - they've been willing to accept the likes of Jeffrey/Kennedy + mid-tier prospect for him (and fans seems to always demand more than GMs actually get) compare that to reports that Clowe will garner a first + prospect (these days, he's more enforcer than power-forward).

I don't think that's a fair assumption but in any case

Kunitz
Bennett / Clowe
Clowe / Bennett
Morrow

They'd just be rentals, not signings. At $4M right now you can bet Shero wouldn't pay either of them near that much next year. So if we can get 'em for cheap, not the end of the world. But I think it's more realistic than Iggy and certainly more than Stewart.

Id like to pick up Paajarvi and Smid from Edmonton.

Someone has yet to explain to me why a team starved for good young D will trade one of the few they have to us, or any other team... are we trading two D back?

Especially when they're likely to subtract Ryan Whitney as a starting point. EDM will most likely be ADDING D (other than Whitney) not subtracting. Also I don't know that Smid is as good as people suggest, but that's neither here nor there. Paajarvi wouldn't be bad / would probably be very affordable compared to some of these other guys were talking about.
