I would like to see a swap of healthy scratches tbh, but I know I'm in the minority here on that.
while vet's seem to be better at sitting and then coming in and still being able to do well, more so than a young guy. if we do move some of our healthy scratches. I would hope it for picks.

I don't think you'll be able to get a pick for any of the regular healthy scratches, especially because they're pretty much all only signed for this year, Riikola aside.

His interview with Spittin Chiclets was superb

He's always a great listen. Used to catch his Friday spot on NHL radio. If you separated the caricature from what he actually was saying, the guy is very insightful and, as I noted elsewhere, a first rate hockey ops guy.

I would guess that's the plan. I could see Carter and Malkin working well together.

that would require Kap moving to LW...which he didn’t play well at in Toronto...or he drops to the third line with McCann back with Geno...

Carter and Geno together 6-7 years ago would've been a wet dream, hopefully we can find some type of magic with them

They could. Having Carter go to the dirty areas would help. And, if Malkin's skating is fine, I think the trio with Kap could work in that regard. Plus, you have a faceoff guy and maybe Carter ends up in a hybrid W/C role a la Talbot in 2009.

That said, I still think Plan A is McCann on Malkin's LW, but one thing Carter's addition does, even in this scenario, is to give you something other than Zucker as Plan B.

My understanding is that they've acknowledged Malkin and Zucker just don't mesh well and have been eyeing Zucker anchoring his own line like they preferred with Kessel.

I like when Sid and Carter teamed up. I wouldn't be doing my job if I didn't suggest:

Rust-Malkin-Kapanen
Zucker-McCann-ERod

Has Carter played LW before? I know he can play wing, but I was only familiar with him as a C/RW, not a C/RW/LW.

At the same point, if Carter can't play LW we know Kapanen can.

he can’t...and Kap didn’t do well at LW...for Carter to play on L2 with an effective LW for Geno, you’d have to go...

The other day I had probably 7-8 videos of him talking lined just bc he’s a phenomenal person to listen to. Being a lawyer certainly help in that regard but he doesn’t speak in legalese which is a god send.

Seems to me I heard Carter can play all forward positions, but I was thinking RW.

They're not splitting Malkin and Kapanen. In your scenario, flip Kapanen and Carter, and I think you've got the best utilization of available personnel with the given of GCR.

I also doubt you'll see it, as I think Sully will be loathe to break up BART.

EDIT: But, we got a look of GOAT with ZAR and Tanev for a few games, and they were legit good.
