Looks like KLaw has chosen to die on his Biggio hill. This is from his chat last week:

Love this. Some stats:

- When Keith Law said that, Biggio indeed had a well below-average OBP of .265... in ten games. Ten.
- Last year, Biggio had an OBP over .360 in 100 games. But apparently that means nothing.
- In 15 games since that chat, Biggio has an OBP over .500.
- Biggio now has a total OBP over .400 on the season and over .370 in 125 games in his career.

So, Keith... it's ok to be wrong about a prospect. Everyone is all the time. You know what's not ok, though? Refusing to admit you were wrong and taking every little slump as proof that you were right in the face of a mounting pile of evidence that you weren't.

I guess 3.7 fWAR in 125 games would be nice to have as AAA depth, though.

What exactly does our taxi squad do? Just batting practice and a little fielding practice? Intrasquad games? It would be cool for Sportsnet to make a little tv episode on it, I'd like to see ehat Martin and co are up to.

Martin and Co aren't the taxi squad.

The taxi squad is just the 5 (?) players the team keeps with them as they travel to fill injury spots or replace demotions.

I don't think there's a collective term for the rest of the guys in the 60-man group other than to say they're at the "alternate training site"

I know this isn't really germane to your intended question, it's just here for clarification.

I like that the guy asked a question about Montoyo and Keith used it entirely to go on a Biggio screed while not really addressing the question in full.

Casual fan that enjoys jumping in here to get latest news on the Jays. Seeing all the coach hate do you think a change will be made in season or at end? Is that even possible?

Good thing the Jays didn’t listen to me and traded Anderson.

Rotation looks like Ryu, Roark and Anderson right now. Maybe Waguespack.

Pearson and Shoemaker should be back but who knows that Pearson is when he returns. I won’t rely too much on Thornton. On the IL twice for the same reason. Might be done for the season.

Reds said they arent trading Bauer and they are looking to add.

Remaining pitchers are Lance Lynn and Marco Gonzales. Both would cost a lot as Lynn is pitching like a Cy Young candidate and has a year left. Gonzales has 4 years left at a very affordable deal.

Maybe we can go after Mike Minor and Corey Kluber from the Rangers. Minor is having a bad season after a great one. Pending free agent, shouldn’t cost a lot.
Kluber a former Shapiro guy, hasn’t pitched this season with injury issues. Good buy low guy with a club option next year. If he rebounds that’s a big playoff arm for almost nothing.

No too early. Earliest a firing could be is early next season if we get off to a bad start but I think Montoyo gets another full season at a minimum.

That's what got me. The fact that he took the time to give a long answer supporting his initial position on Biggio based off of a ten-game sample to start off the most unorthodox season in history, rather than looking at last season + the fact that stats change VERY quickly at this point in the season.

So glad we don’t have to see the Rays anymore this season after tomorrow. 9 games and we easily could have a minimum of 6 wins and up to 9. Here we are 3-6.

The scary thing is there are only 4 teams in the NL with a better record than the Jays; Braves, Cubs, Dodgers and Padres.

Making the playoffs will also help us with free agents this off season which would be a big pivot year for us.

Next 13 games will tell us a lot.
7 vs Boston
4 vs Baltimore
2 vs Miami

We go to get at least 7 here and 3 have to be against Baltimore.

Didn’t realize how poor the league is. 43% of the season is done and we have the 12th best record, 8th in the AL and the only team close to us is Baltimore. If we can’t beat Baltimore out under these circumstances then it will be tough pill to swallow.

They play the Rays tomorrow unfortunately.

Everyone who complains about Montoyo pulling starters too early needs to keep in mind that this kind of thing is happening at a ludicrous rate around the league this year.

This is where having a horde of AAA type prospects to plug in is a pretty big comparative advantage for the Jays this year. Its let them make the most of the extra lineup spots by having an expanded bullpen and they have more long guys to fill in for the starters if they go down.

Ryu is pretty much the only irreplaceable guy they have on the staff. The rest is this horde about 18 types of okay arms.

Sucks to lose so many starters with out best backup options in the pen for a while now. Kay, Hatch or Borucki could maybe start a game but they'd probably be capped at 50 pitches or so, maybe even less. Maybe SRF or Joey Murray could be called up to make a start IDK.

Murray would be kinda fun. Something like Font as and opener then Merryweagher for 3-4 innings or 50 pitches wouldn't really surprise me either. Depending how things are going at the secondary site, Luciano or Diaz could be interesting, too.

I imagine we get a bunch of Zeuch and Pannone, though.

If he is going to the alternate site then ok. But if he is coming to the team then what next? Rowdy on the move for pitching?

.850 OPS vs Tampa

Cleveland or Detroit should have got him. Vogelbach has 1.000+ OPS against 3 teams in his career; Minnesota, Royals and White Sox.
