We’ve seen other GMs pay some ridiculous prices so it makes sense Toronto’s deals came in the 11th hour. A protected 1st, Minten and Grebenkin aren’t bad comparatively.

Toronto also got some retention and players who signed to pretty friendly deals for another year. That should bode well for the off-season, Marner’s contract notwithstanding.

Good on Philly for pulling Grebenkin for Laughton.

Grabbing a legit hard nosed 3C and then having Carlo/Tanev and Stolarz in net (who has stats comparable to Helle) is going to feel different in the playoffs.

I miss Miami in January. January and February in Miami are lovely.

In Florida it's all about your distance from the water. I once lived in Brickell Ave on the bay in Miami and holy shit was that a paradise. If you go even 10 miles inland it's brutal. Tallahassee and Gainesville in the summer are AGONY.

We go down there for a week every January to break up the winter to visit my wife's relatives (she is from NY city, some of her family moved down there).

When I was in Daytona I was about 3-4 miles from the beach, not too far from the speedway. Good memories when I was there but...I had enough.

That should be the goal... Winning a cup. Anything short of that is definitely a failure. Every other contender knows that. At the very least at least make it to the finals.

I dont see minten ceiling more than Laughton

Minten has been avg at pretty much every level of hockey since being a teenager.

He isnt a world beater and doesnt have any tools that make you think a 50 pt center.

Laughton's career high is 43pts and only broke 30 point 4 times in his career and never hit 20 goals. Minten has a good shot, and should be able to surpass these stats pretty easy considering how good a head he has for the game.
I've always been higher on Minten than some others though
