agreed but Jack Campbell was also outstanding to start the season if we want to dream
Why is looking at previous positive outcomes with our players considered “dreaming” when we’ve literally seen it for stretches? All teams and players have peaks and valleys during a season. Some more pronounced than others. If this teams going to sicceeed it’s second line is going to have to perform.

I don't really think we're disagreeing. But the general tone of the thread seemed to be arguing whether to acquire a 2LW or a goalie, if we think the 2nd line can return to greatness than we have to believe Jack can as well.

I have more faith in two really good players who have hovered with ppg for long stretches have a better chance of regaining form than I do of a 30 year old goalie finding the three solid months he’s played and stringing them together consecutively

this "kerfoot is ahead in points" is always brought up as if Rakell wouldn't be ahead of him if he had this situation.

I'm not hating on Kerfoot but he's just not as offensively skilled. And a much better goal scoring track record, I really want finishing talent.

didn't know about his injury tho, fair play
I get that but it's the most prominent measuring stick and a lack of production could signal a lot of things other than just "inferior team", his PPG career is .6 he's at .5 this year, he's had a couple of 30+ seasons. Is he still that player? I don't know really at 28 you'd think he should be and you want to think that, but then so would Anaheim like you to think that because he would be expensive! The question becomes is how much you'll pay for a pretty sure 20 goal scorer who doesn't have the greatest playoff track record?

I'm convinced some people would buyout Nylander if they could.
Hmm.. I didn't say that. I simply wondered if there's an out of left field splash that could be made to spice things up.

I think he's fantastic skill-wise but does not inspire his linemates to grind and go to war with him, and theres an argument to be made that he's surplus value in the skill department, even despite the struggles this team has to score in the playoffs.

And honestly, I don't think Matthews OR Tavares want to play with him. Like at all.

I guess. Really doesn’t have to mean anything. It’s a weird post, because it’s either meaningless or brutally obvious and completely unnecessary to state lol

that is like, 95% of things that are tweeted and posted on trade deadline day
