I'm admittedly not knowledgeable, I'm still learning, but I do think Kotkaniemi's 8 year extension was odd. I'm not saying "he's terrible. What a waste" but 8 years is a loooong time and at $4.82m AAV......that's a lot of money paid to a guy who has 23 points in 59 games. I actually like Kotkaniemi but I think I would've gone for something a little shorter.....maybe 4 years and I would've shot for $3.5 AAV. Again I'm not an expert whatsoever but that 8 years was shocking to me.

Just to be clear my post was not an attack at your level of knowledge. It was more a general answer to the attitude of our fanbase toward Carolina (salty because of what they did which is fine but at the same time they have a powerhouse of a team and it's important to not overlook that). Re-reading my post it was not worded correctly and looked like an attack directed toward yourself so sorry for that. JK effectively looks like a bad deal. It could work but it probably wont. It's a huge gamble that could set them back for sure.

There always is late announcements. Rarely major trades. But usually you get announcements up until around 1 hour after deadline.

Oh you didn't attack my level of knowledge at all. I wasn't the original person you responded to (I jumped in with a comment after). So I took absolutely no offense to your post at all.

You can attack my level of knowledge......I'm an American from the South......as you would expect I didn't exactly grow up around the sport lol. So I wouldn't call myself an expert at all. But I do love this sport and I love the Canadiens.

Carolina is a great team for sure. The Kotkaniemi thing they did last summer was childish/petty but I have no ill will toward them. I agree with you though I think that extension is a bad deal for them.
