If Dallas doesn't get healthy soon and fall behind in the Central, they'd have a few players. I'm sure they'll be in the playoffs, but the chance they didn't

Sharp, Oduya, Hudler, and Hemsky

Stafford to Dallas for 2nd 2017
Iginla for Versteeg and Kanzig

Doesn't seem like a deal that benefits either team.

If Calgary is getting Iggy, it's because they're going for a run. If Colorado acquires Versteeg, it's likely because they're going for a run and want the depth. Kanzig seems like a useless throw in.

STL won't be dealing Shattenkirk. He will walk for nothing.

The would trade him in a hockey trade of nhl players for nhl players ---not trading him for picks and prospects unless they were outside looking in at the deadline.

There will be about 10 teams outside of the playoffs who will be the sellers.

All players should have value at the deadline; Hanzal prior. I think Hanzal is in a new uniform next season.

I predict a lot of movement since teams will finalize their expansion protection list and will want to move some unprotected assets for draft picks and prospects.

For once, the trade deadline will be a buyer's market.

Hanzal to the habs for desharnais, a pick and a prospect is a no brainer . Frees up some cap space and makes us tougher to play against. Helps our dreadful face off percentages. At 29 he can replace plekanec when his deal expires when we resign him in the off season. I'm not saying he's the last piece of puzzle but frees up cash and makes us better. Shouldn't be waiting till deadline because someone else will grab him.

The Bruins will trade for a JAG depth defenseman like they always do

Pretty much this.

Defense will be the trouble all season long clearly needing an upgrade and the Bruins will trade for a Grossman type d-man that will barely crack their roster because, you know... "depth"

I pretty much agree with you, I think Army holds unto Shattenkirk for a cup run. And then lets him walk after the season is over. Though if he could get some nice pieces for him he probably at least should look into it.

Should he though? I mean do they have a better chance at a cup with him or without him? I could see if it was in a deal for a player that would help them but how many playoff teams are going to trade a player with that kind of value before the playoffs? I guess it could happen but we know that non-playoff teams aren't going to be trading for an UFA to be and giving up much of anything.

So with everything considered I don't think they should consider anything other than a hockey trade and there probably won't be one of those at the deadline. Maybe right now that could happen though.

Streit @ 50% for a 2nd and low-end prospect/AHL cusp player to either...

Boston, Montreal, Colorado, Edmonton, depending on their playoff aspirations at the time, obviously.

IF the Isles are out, I can see them trying to move the following:

Greiss, Bailey, Kulemin, or Halak.

Not saying they're going to find takers. Just that they'll be shopping them.

Stempniak signed a multi-year deal didn't he? He's likely safe this deadline.

For a buyers market you would need a lot of sellers such that you have only 9 teams in the playoffs chase in each conference.

The feeling is this season you will see parity which means likely only a few teams are sellers while others are fighting for the wild card spot.

They should have taken the Eriksson + Spooner deal last deadline, to be honest.
