i think a lot of people will dislike this message but i cant see sandi stay with toronto at long, its not gonna work... its not gonna, not because of sandin is not a skilled player but i cant see rielly and sandin playing in the same top 4. For me sandin of he can fully develop, he can be a kind of torey krug and its the same thing, i cant see rielly and krug in the same top 4.

They are offensive d men who need to play offensive situation as much possible and need to play with full liberty... so they need someone who will not take any risk and if you using rielly o top offensive situation, with your seco d pair you will look for d who can play on every kind of defensive situation. With his lack of strenght and acceleration, defensive thing will never be a strenght for sandin so he need to play an offensive game and he need to play in good offensive situation. Kind of situation hebwill not get in Toronto and i think at the end, like with Barrie... that will never work...

*whispers* I wouldn't buy out or retain on Mrazek. A hockey trade would be nice, but if not, I am willing to roll the dice on him bouncing back.

The big risk of that is opportunity cost. So if the Leafs could squeeze a Michael Bunting on a sub $1 million contract, what are we sacrificing to keep Mrazek, and can he play at a consistent 1B level? Is it worth it?

I'd like to see Dubas give more 3-4 year deals to players lower in the lineup such as Kampf/Engvall and Steeves/Anderson when they eventually are up for contract. The 4 year >2M contracts for 23-26 year old players have been incredibly valuable in the past few years. Players like Coleman, Hyman, Brown, Hathaway, Hagel, Hartman all provided awesome value on these style on contracts. Players like Lazar, ZAR and Motte would fit the bill for one of these contracts in UFA.

The guy who jumps out at you, when you look at UFA Centers, with more production than Kampf, that could provide different dynamics to this team, is Nicholas Paul.

Here is the UFA C list.

Paul has impressed the hell out of me these playoffs. Just the kind of guy we need. Mississauga kid - we should have a shot at him in free agency.

I think he's going to get resigned by Tampa. The appeal of coming home is not there anymore unless you are 35+ year olds who has kids around in Toronto

Tampa is going to need to replace Perry and Maroon. Their money can easily go into Paul

I'd send a 2nd in 2024 + a prospect like hirvonen for Roy in Vegas. He can play C and Rw is physical and is a solid two way player.

Really not sure why Vegas will do that. 2nd does nothing for Vegas and they have plenty of prospects of their own

Bunting didn't come from Tampa Bay a potential stanly cup threepeaters
We don't even know how many offers he actually had on the table
He had 28 games under his belt and frankly speaking he wasn't proven at all in any types of role

Nick Paul will be coveted FA by a lot of teams looking for bottom 6
He's having a great playoffs, show casing his potential.
He has had great 3 short seasons playing in Ottawa. He was traded, not dropped

Bunting was another of Dubas cheap contracts that actually worked out for once. Bunting needed a contract and ofcourse Kyle came knocking. Nothing to take away from him but Bunting. I am happy he chose toronto.

But you are correct. Bunting did come home. I just can't see Paul coming home. He's going to get paid

If he wins the cup this year he probably takes the highest offer and it probably looks like a Goodrow contract. The Leafs probably stay away.

If we move kerfoot , Holl, Mrazek, and potentially muzzin that gives us 14.9 million to fill 2LW, 3 C, 3 Rw, 4 Rw.

2 Lw Nichuskin 7 years x 6 million
3 C Paul 4 years x 3.5 million
3 Rw Roy 2 years x 2 million ( Trade)
4 Rw Zar 2 years x 1.2 million
3 Rd Gudbranson 2 years x 2 million
1 G Campbell 4 years x 4 million
2 G Holtby 2 years x 2 million

Bunting Matthews Marner
Nichushkin Tavares Nylander
Robertson Paul Roy
Zar Kampf Engvall

Reilly Liljegren
Gio Brodie
Sandin Gudbranson

Campbell
Holtby

He said that he had multiple offers, higher than the offer he took from Toronto.

If some team throws him Coleman or Goodrow money surely he'll go there, but if he's getting more modest offers I wager we have a good shot at getting him.

There’s a mic’d up video posted by Tampa of Paul laughing at the Leafs and calling them embarrassing at the end of game 4 I believe when Engvall wouldn’t answer the bell.

All this goalie talk is frustrating. It's an indictment on the Leafs as an organization that James Reimer is the best goaltender they've produced in the past 25 years.

Dont hope too much to get campbell under 5M. If he did it, hes certainly accepting to take a pay cut... 5M is the value of a goalie in the average

I think he signs for 4.5. Either that or he goes to another team for 5 or 5.5.

Looking at the Rangers - they did a great job acquiring good players through trades and free agency. Those players are huge contributors to their success right now. I'd love to see the Leafs have a Rangers summer.

Scary thought - Gorton is the architect of this current Rangers team. He is now with the Canadians.

If Friedman is to be believed, it certainly doesn't sound like Campbell is a priority. Didn't get the vibe from Dubas's presser that Jack was in the plans either.

I think they either have another plan (which would presumably involve making a splashy move for a bona fide workhorse #1 or going cheap on the goalie position as a philosophy) or they've lost faith in Campbell and don't want to pay him more than Mrazek.
