Trade and Free Agency - 2025-26

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
Well I completely disagree unless you’re just stat watching. He played the game at speed and was accountable as a two way C. His rookie season absolutely destroys Eks

First season in NA too, probably should have been in the AHL but that wasn't really an option I guess.

Still don't know how the offense will come along, but I don't really see why he wouldn't still be valued as a potential 55-60 point 2way 2C.

To be fair, he got much more favorable deployment than JEE did as a rookie.

I am encouraged because I felt most of his issues last year were mental - when you watched him it was clear he was playing like a rookie who was afraid to make a mistake.

The nuanced defensive game was at least as good as advertised. If he can work on faceoffs and his finishing he will be a big part of the future (assuming we don't trade him).

Yurov had 3 different seasons:

First 14 games, on the 4th line playing 8-12 minutes and barely produced.
Next 46 games, had 23 points and was fully in the mix
Last 13 games, minimally produced for reasons not quite known, possible the "rookie wall"

At this point I'm just going with 46 games >> 27 games and staying optimistic on the legit 2nd line C potential.

USA is like a different planet compared to what he came from. The league he played in is a soft ass league with less physical play. I'm not gonna judge him based on his first season, with all new impressions, learning a new language and the wear and tear with all the travelling and bruises and whatnot.
Now he knows what he's dealing with and should be more prepared next season.

This is where I am at with him. In any other situation this franchise has been, this is a guy that you are not at all in a position to move. Looked the part of a long term NHLer year one. Skates well, sound fundamentals, and enough there that is projectable assuming reasonable development. Most of his production came from him getting to scoring areas and capitalizing there. He still has work to do to be much better in those spots but what he did last year is a good sign.

I think it’s reasonable to question if he’s a 40-50pt center or a 60ish point guy. Ultimately that’s where I see him. Both are very valuable but there’s a pretty big gulf between those types of players. I don’t see him settling under or well above those numbers when all is said and done in his career.

I havent had a chance to listen to Russo latest pod did he say anything new?
Not really, keeps doubling down on thinking we will get Kane, Lee, or other aging vets. Did mention Hertl is not of interest to the Wild. Thinks that if they strike out on Larkin that they will probably sit tight and see if anything shakes loose to start the year. Didn’t feel like he’s really heard anything else and only speculating the rest.

His opinions were
They don't want hertle
Trenin is the first one they would trade for cap relief
Doesn't think they want to trade brodin
Thinking a third team needs to be involved to get Larkin
Named wally with kap boldy faber ek hughes as not being traded

This is the right take and I’ll add that if he peaks at a reliable 45-50pt 3c he’s still a player who has the skill set to be able to play up the lineup if I hires happen etc etc. He’s got the hardest part of the game down which is the reads from the middle of the ice. Let him put a little muscle on and work on his faceoffs. Also let’s not discount the fact that Hynes is a disaster for development and rookie confidence

He basically said the Wild are out on Trocheck too.

Seems reasonable.

I don't post often but thought I would chime in here. If the Wild aren't getting Larkin and I'm not super sold on that either then I don't want Billy to do anything else other than fill in the wing spots and try again for a center next year. Other than Larkin/Matthews/Hughes or Thomas there aren't any centers I feel are worth it.

Just my 2cents which I know doesn't mean anything.

The wing spots could be just as important as landing a 1c if we find the right guys

It's a barren UFA group this year. The only FWDs are the aging vets. Zucc, Tank, and MarJo are in the top-8 for points. Kane is 3rd and Lee is 10th.

I’m glad they at least recognize Trenin needs to go. Hopefully Middleton is in that list as well
