This move by Florida tonight could possibly open up some trade options for Trenin or Foligno to teams in the east, especially in that division. The Panthers aren’t going to be fun to play against. Some teams might be looking to get a little heavier and grittier now.
Problem is BG isn't going to want to part with Foligno or Trenin.

is because of Guerin's continual slight overpayments that everyone excuses because they're not so bad in each individual case, but add up in aggregate

Has there been anyone that defended folignos and trenins cap hits? Even in the aggregate?

I wonder if the Tkachuks uniting in Florida will have any impact on Quinn
I think it'd have more of an impact on him if the Devils were a competitive team right now. They have a lot of questions regarding their future. Look at the year they just had. Still haven't made any significant changes to their roster. And they don't have a ton of assets that can be used to overhaul their team. I don't see them being able to compete with Carolina, Florida, Tampa, Montreal, etc. in the short term without big changes.

My concern is that, there is some merit to the point that if they acquired him, they'd probably be in a similar spot to where we are now. Looking at our roster, we're fairly maxed out on what we can do unless we get lucky. We're not truly a Cup contender with what we have, and our pool of assets to trade for other good pieces is weak. We have to find another unexpected gem like Faber, or we have to hope a free agent or two wants to sign a fair deal here.

If you can convince yourself that NJ+Quinn would be a 2nd round type of team, the only difference between them and us is they have his brothers.

I still think he signs here, this is more of a thought experiment, but still, we're not in the clear yet.

I see your perspective. Hope we have our answer, one way or the other, in the first few days of July. Would be really annoying if it dragged on. One other positive of the last few weeks is Larkin and Brady having Minnesota on their lists. Maybe that makes Quinn feel like the Wild are an enticing destination where players want to come.
