Big difference between being a Ranger, or being an Islander or Devil. Manhattan is a different world.I hope for Kirill’s sake he at least has the sense to sign with the Devils. They have two 1Cs and an elite young blueline.

Prudential Center is only 14 miles from Madison Square Garden. You can easily still live in ManhattanBig difference between being a Ranger, or being an Islander or Devil. Manhattan is a different world.
I think the main thing there was the expansion draft. Giving away a first rounder (Tuch) because he had painted himself into a corner with NMCs. It's humiliating to see your GM get worked over by a smarter guy. But it's never just one thing and I can't think of any of Fletch's bottom of roster moves that were as baffling as the Brazeau trade.Fletcher says huh...

I've lived in Manhattan. Driving 14 mi. there can take forever. I would bet that mostPrudential Center is only 14 miles from Madison Square Garden. You can easily still live in Manhattan
Yep, Devils have quickly become my alternate team. Add Kap and they would be big time scaryI hope for Kirill’s sake he at least has the sense to sign with the Devils. They have two 1Cs and an elite young blueline.
Yeah, Brighton Beach is right by Coney Island in Brooklyn. I think a little extra time in the car (or helicopter) might be worth it to contend for a CupI've lived in Manhattan. Driving 14 mi. there can take forever. I would bet that most players live on the other side of the river.
Things have changed since i was there, but isn't the big Russian population on the other side of the city in Brooklyn? I would guess that Kap would want easy access to that.
that's the thing, it's not a little bit of time. NYC traffic makes CHI traffic seem like nothing. these guys want to live near the rink they are playing in, practicing in, and the airport (Newark?) that they are flying out of.Yeah, Brighton Beach is right by Coney Island in Brooklyn. That must be why the Devils are such a free agent destinationPrudential Center is only 14 miles from Madison Square Garden. You can easily still live in Manhattan
Congestion pricing has actually made traffic far better. Less than a half hour from MSG to Prudential Center or EWR at non-peak times. I get wanting to save money and time but maybe one's girlfriend / wife would prefer not living in Newark.that's the thing, it's not a little bit of time. Devils would be quite the team with Kap, on them, IF he, Hughes, and Hamilton can sty on the ice.
Little bit easier of a sell when your core includes a couple of Hughes brothers and Hischier versus Zajac and Henrique, isn’t it?That must be why the Devils are such a free agent destination![]()
Ah, interesting. I had heard they were going to some sort of solution to the traffic problem. Singapore has limited permits for driving in the city, and makes them very expensive.Congestion pricing has actually made traffic far better. And I would hope Kaprizov wouldn't be choosing his free agency destination based on being closer to some Russian expats -- usually fat guys in speedos spread out on a park bench -- and a bowl of borscht. Even Minneapolis has some of that.
I’d love it. Especially on an NHL salary. The food is incredible. The views. But yeah, could definitely see why some people would prefer not toMaybe I’m different, but living in a city like Manhattan sounds awful. I’d rather live outside the city and travel in than vice versa.
Definitely love the views, especially from the top of the World Trade Center and Empire State Building. I’m a tall building person while being terrified of heights lol. I’ve got some really cool pictures of the WTC. Food is great, but also overpriced. Both of those things I can get while still living outside the city. It’s the amount of people and noise at night that would drive me insane.I’d love it. Especially on an NHL salary. The food is incredible. The views. I hate that we are trying to handle the logistics for Kaprizov’s inevitable departure to NYC![]()
I think the Florida teams are more of a threat than New York.
Kaprizov doesn’t seem like a big city person. If I recall his social media showed him more as an outdoorsy kind of person. I think the Florida teams are more of a threat than New York.
