Realistically, if Kaprizov really is out for the season, including playoffs, we probably don't want to be big buyers right? I mean you don't want to give the idea that you're giving up on the season and playoffs, but without Kaprizov, the Cup isn't a realistic goal.

Does it make sense to trade your 2nd or any prospects for a filler middle 6er then? I don't think so...
I don’t get the impression that Kaprizov is out for the season, this just feels like LTIR games.

Guerin talked about potentially making moves at TDL, which didn’t make sense considering we had no cap space. Then suddenly Kap is injured and needs surgery that’ll take 4-6 weeks to recover from. Now the recovery is taking longer than anticipated & we’re just hoping he’s back for this season.

We’ll find out in about a week, but I have a feeling that Guerin is going to be bringing in someone.

I’m iffy on Boeser, really depends on what he costs to acquire & what an extension looks like for him. I would’ve strongly preferred going after an Ehlers, Marner, or Rantanen caliber of player this offseason if we hadn’t burnt $8M on Trenin & Foligno.

If Guerin does acquire a player like Boeser or even Nelson, god forbid, I'll take that as an indication that he feels Kaprizov will be back for game 1 of the playoffs. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense.

Kaprizov mentioned he doesn't like coming in cold, so hopefully he'll be back and playing before the season is over.
I know that's been a problem for him in the past, but this season his version of coming in cold was 4 points in the first 3 games and 21 points in the first 10. Maybe he found some way to get himself up to game speed quicker than normal, but I suspect he was just healthy, finally. At least until that knee against the Oilers back in November. Since that game he's only put up 18 points in 18 games compared to the 34 in 19 before it.

Man, the Oilers have really had it out for our players this year. The Jets must have passed the baton.

Forgot my point for a second there. My point is that, as long as he comes back healthy, I think the rust will be hard to notice.

I think Kap and his agent will want him back and playing ASAP. They will have to know that missing large amounts of time, as well as the corresponding hit to his production, will lower the amount he can expect on a contract offer this summer.
So we have a situation where the interest of one player runs at cross purposes to the interests of the team(LTIR cap relief allowing us to add a significant player for the playoffs). It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Liam Ohgren and Hartman/Trenin for Zegras. Money works, more or less. Zegras has had two terrible seasons after two vg ones - can't help but feel that he simply isn't a fit in ANA. I am thinking that being reunited with Boldy might be a good thing for him. ANA may want more, but the longer Zegras's offensive ineptitude continues, the more his value slides. I can see Verbeek liking the grit of one of Hart/Trenin, and being satisfied with the potential of a player like Ohgren. Zegras was not his pick, so he is not tied to him.

has zegras been injured? hes only played 34 gms this season.
Yes, as he was last season. Still, his P/PG has been mediocre the past two seasons. One would think that he would improve as he reaches his mid 20's, not get worse.

Don’t see Guerin moving forward with a C core that includes Rossi, Zegras, Marat and possibly Heidt.
