What would the consequences be of trading for someone using Kap on LTIR and Kaprizov coming back before the end of the season?

If it’s past the TDL, what remedy does a team have to get back under the cap? Are you forced to send players down?

A lingering groin injury feels like it’s very easy to use the LTIR loophole with, regardless of what Russo says. Hell, throw Spurgeon on LTIR for the last 10 games of the season to rehab. We have a history of recurring injuries on this team that we should be able to take advantage of.

We forfeit the games we can't get under the cap for

Probably a lot of fines and taking away of draft picks as well

Can't see them trading depth while hoping to make a playoff run, especially since a few weeks ago Chisholm was our 2D

They could very well trade him this summer as an RFA though depending on how Buium looks towards the end of the season

Can we even fit Buium on the roster without accumulating cap space?
And now that we're carrying Hartman's dead cap, it'll be even worse than it was. Can we even ice a full roster? At Puckpedia the projected cap space is currently negative, before trying to replace him.

Actually, it looks like we have both Jones and Shore on the roster still, so maybe we can. But no, I don't think we'll be able to add Buium without waiving Merrill or Chisholm ($1.2M and $1.0M respectively), because I'm fairly certain his cap hit would be $950k and we'll have accrued nothing.

What are the numbers if we buy Hartman out? Kinda just over him existing on the Wild’s roster.

A buyout this off-season would cost $4,666,667 in real dollars, and carry a cap hit of $2,833,333 in year 1, $1,833,333 in year 2, and $1,166,667 for each of the remaining 2 years of the 4-year buyout.

Table format for ease of reading:
'25-26$2,833,333
'26-27$1,833,333
'27-28$1,166,667
'28-29$1,166,667

Could you imagine replacing any one of the plugs on this team with Granlund instead of him going to the stars?

Guerin has seen fit to pay players like Foligno and Tronion instead of prioritizing any semblance of scoring depth.

I’m not even talking about being competitive , I’m just talking about having a marketable product on the ice.

Never thought I would see f7ben advocating for a rental.

I could see granny and Kap meshing just as well as Zucc and Kap. Granny is still a top 6 player in this league and he could have been had cheap.
If you meant "could have been had" during the summer of 2021, when he signed his last contract, I don't recall what our cap situation was.

If you meant this most recent trade, we don't have our 2025 1st round pick, which is what Dallas traded to SJ.
