I step away for the holidays and now everyone is arguing about Boldy. WTF is going on here?
Just one guy wants to trade him because his pace fell off during a rough stretch of games.
I have no doubt about that.

Maybe you should make a trade board thread for Kings fans to consider, Boldy for Fiala.
Probably, but no time for re-treads.
Boldy is not the best at anything on this team, except for consistently taking a month off every season.

Show me a guy besides Kaprizov who hasn't had monthly slumps. Hell, Fiala was a no-show the first THREE months of his last season here, but I guess he was the answer to all of our prayers.
Fiala playing with absolute plugs for his first three months and being called a no show while also out producing Boldy at any point in Boldys career is definitely a take. Fiala had 52 points in his first 50 games of that season. Boldy has never been on ppg stretches for more than a handful of games and the kid disappears like Charlie Coyle every single year. He is a decent complimentary winger who cannot drive play on his own at any level. He is also become prone to taking dumber penalties as consistently as Hartman ever has.
Boldy is in his 4th full year turning 24 in 4 months and this is absolutely where forwards should be staring to peak.
Hes being dragged to a 70pt pace by premium linemates and deployment while absolutely wilting from any moment we need him to step up.
If he was a pitcher he’d be Kyle Gibson.

If you're 70 point player, you're going to have stretches where you don't score, because if you don't, then you're probably a 90 point player.
Now, obviously the hope is/was that Boldy is a 90 point player. Still yet to be determined.
Again, a normal shooting % probably puts Boldy back up to 6-8 points in the last 10 games, which at least fall under "respectable".

Most players in the league are not going to be best at anything when you have a kaprisov on the team.
If boldy I'd playing his worst hockey for a month rossi is better during that stretch , over the course of a season boldy just has more skill and more offense. That could change in the future but it's not true now.
It’s not controversial to suggest Boldy is streaky. When he’s on, he’s absolutely elite. He’s been bad since he was announced to the Olympic team. His defensive game is becoming a weapon, but seems to be lacking confidence offensively.
My big concern with him is the playoffs. He’s got to find a way to produce in tighter games. And Hynes/Guerin have to find a combination that works. It sucks that Zucc is only productive 5v5 with 97, because it makes it harder to put our two-biggest scoring threats together without big repercussions down the lineup.
The likely arrival of Yurov & Ohgren next year should be huge for the middle 6. I’m guessing Boldy will really benefit from the added scoring depth

I would say non-injured Eriksson Ek, but that is exactly the problem. We have guys that are complete non-factors for a large chunk of the season in spots that we need contributions from consistently. When they disappear, there is nobody to replace them.

Already did; a main board thread offering Boldy for Fiala. I think it could clear things up quickly (if minds are open about it).

This is just funny because prior to this stretch where almost everyone has been bad or ineffective, Boldy was easily the second best forward on this team, he was driving offense, and he was better than he's ever been
He needs to figure out how to contribute on a more consistent basis again, but it's far from a sky is falling situation right now
He may not be able to carry on a point per game pace or higher playing with plugs, but he does usually drive offense when he's playing with other competent top six players

Unrelated to Boldy, Marchenko would have been an excellent target last offseason. I believe @Dr Jan Itor mentioned him at least a couple times.

Well, we want a line driver, right? You offered him as an example of someone who was a difference maker that Boldy needed. Or were you suggesting that their center was the "line driver"? Looking back, it appears that was most frequently Freddy Gaudreau (70.4% of the time). Who was the line driver on that line? That was a good line that scored a lot, so someone must have been driving the offense forward, right?
100% how I feel about this.
Kings fans would take Boldy in a heartbeat. He has NOT been a favorite over there.
He is gone. He needs to stay gone. It's over and done with already.
Nobody said it was a sky is falling situation. The idea is to get another difference making piece. We can't exactly get that with Zucc, Hartman, Foligno, Trenin, etc. Think Huberdeau for Tkachuk type deal (and no, Boldy is not Tkachuk in that instance).
He was a difference maker 3 years ago when they played together... That's what I said. I also said no to trading for Fiala currently.

Yeah, I know, you want to trade Boldy++ for Brady Tkachuk who has 3 more points than Boldy playing with guys like Stutzle and Batherson all year, and who was outscored by Boldy at the WC's. He's not the difference maker you think he is.
I just don’t understand how you can go from looking like Rantanen to looking like you need to be sent down every single year. When he falls off it is all the way off the cliff. There is nothing more frustrating.
