Sometimes, you have to make moves and be okay with missing. Given how our season has started, our first-round pick will likely be late, and we’ve spread out the picks over three years. To me, that’s perfectly fine.

I think they see the writing on the wall with Spurgeon. He’s not getting any younger, seems to be getting injured more often, and will be 38 when his contract ends in three years. He’ll likely be considering retirement at that point. Similarly, Bogo will be 36 when his contract ends in two years, and I don’t see us bringing him back either.

So, to me, this is a fine deal for us.

Clearly, this means we are trading Spurgeon, Rossi, Trennion, and a 2027 1st to EDM for Draisaitl. Kaprizov and his testicles can then rest easy.

Brodin is in Spurgeon territory with how often he is out of the line up at this point. Cannot stay on the ice and is as soft as anyone in the NHL. They’ll need to plan for a future sans Brodin just as much as Spurgeon.

Saw Bill Guerin for a hot second in NYC, was taking a subway to the Isles-Rangers game and saw him and he saw me and I saw him take note of my jersey and kinda said "No way that's Billy G", checked the schedules and saw you guys weren't playing us or Rangers. Happened to be going the same direction so I did ask and it was him, said hello and talked quick about the Isles and Rangers before departing but wish I took a second to pick his brain and ask about the Wild, you guys are having a great start and I wanted to compliment him on the season so this is a nothing post but thought I'd share. Weird seeing someone out of context! He was in because his daughter was running the NYC marathon btw.

His nose turns fire engine red , and his whole face just a few shades lighter than that and he gets this stupid grin on his face. You’d have known for sure lol
I actually thought you were joking around, he had the wifey with him, she was sweet. Wouldn’t put it past him to pregame a race he isn’t in.

Really wish I had the opportunity to chat with him a bit, my bet is he’s really candid and has a lot of stories. Would have asked a bunch of Qs about the Wild too, I know his rep is up and down on this board but I like Billy.

I was half way joking lol , I have no reason to dislike him personally. In fact I’m guessing I’d like him a lot, as a GM I feel like he’s a dinosaur who places an emphasis on everything but speed and skill. That’s cool you saw him though and got to say high. Thanks for sharing
