Jets could ice an interesting lineup now and in future, featuring some speed, scoring, playmaking and defensive/physical play on each line - balanced top 9.

#1: Connor (speed/scorer)-Vilardi (defensive /playmaker)-Iafallo (defensive/some physicality). Have two strong defensive/all around players play with our best scorer who isn’t as strong defensively.

#2: Nino (defensive/physical)-Perfetti (playmaker)-Scheifele/Lambert/Lucius (speed/scorer). Now if you keep Scheifele, maybe he plays RW with Perfetti and Nino - as your speed/scorer on that line or fill internally with someone like Lambert or Lucius or look for a short term fix in FA like Zucker. Likely too much to ask Lucius or Lambert at this point as neither has shown he can score at AHL level yet.

#3: Ehlers (speed/scorer)-Lowry (defensive/physical)-Kupari (speed/playmaker). I think this could be a really good line and isn’t a historical Jets checking line that doesn’t put up much points. Still good defensively, and maybe Ehlers can awaken Kupari’s offensive game.

#4: Barron (playmaker)-Gustafsson/Stenlund (defensive)-Apples (speed). No scorer on this line, but it’s a 4th line and Barron can move up the lineup when injuries hit.

Now if you can move Scheifele for package that includes a goalie and dman (looking at you Bruins - Swayman and Carlo), you look for a middle winger with speed and skill. A guy like Zucker perhaps.

In future, you hope guys like Barlow and McGroarty develop and add physicality and scoring to each of their lines in top 6 to complement playmaking C’s like Perfetti and Vilardi. Continue to develop Lambert (speed/playmaking) and Lucius (scoring) as C’s with Moose to give you future options at C. Can always slide Vilardi and Perfetti to wing if Lambert and Lucius develop into great young C’s.

Will need physical/defensive guys like Nino and Iafallo in future too but they can be obtained via trade.

Assume the Gawanke tender is just to retain rights.

Of course, but there's been some hype in the media that we'd see some surprises. I guess there isn't any from the Jets

Only one I'm sort of surprised about in Stenlund. I thought they liked him but we have a dirth of bottom 6 guys and not a lot of spots anyways.

Maybe forcing Bowness's hand in playing Gus who almost definitely has more upside :dunno:

Edit: Bowman to Bowness

If Jets move Scheifele, I’d like them to take a swing in FA for guy like Bertuzi. Likely doesn’t want to come to Peg, but that would be an outstanding add to a possible Nino and Perfetti line.

Perfetti as a C will need some size to help him out. But as a great distributor of the puck, his wingers will benefit tremendously.

I wonder what Nashville's plan is going forward. That forward core is mega bad. Wonder if they would be interested in moving Glass? Hometown kid, RFA for 2 more seasons, hasn't really broken out yet but there is a chance. Fabbro is another interesting RD option who hasn't really found his footing yet. Both could be interesting change of scenery options that might come cheap.

Yeah I have no clue what Trotz wants to do. He's esponged his overpaid centers. No clue what is next for them. They still have an all world goalie and a real good dcore.

Yeah it doesn't make a tonne of sense but it seems like they are going rebuild.

Josi has an NMC and at 33 and $9m for another 5 seasons he will be a tough move despite how good he is.

McDonagh is 34 and signed at $6.75m for another 3 years. Still a serviceable player but has a 12 team no trade list which limits their options.

Saros is signed for another 2 years @ $5m likely making him the most attractive trade option.

Barrie probably carries negative value at this point but maybe they retain on his $4.5m cap hit and move him.

Then they have a plethora of middling UFA's coming up at the end of the year in Trenin, Novak, McCarron, Sherwood and Smith.

They have a lot of kind of journeyman level players that might just need a change of scenary that are interesting like Glass, Foote, Fabbro and Ratcliffe. That I think could all be worth a flyer if they come cheap.

Nashville is very interesting. Arizona is similarly interesting, annually, but nothing ever develops.

But Boston is the one I'm most interested in. They have Pasternak, McAvoy and Lindholm and pretty much nothing else. And no picks and no prospects (except Lysell, whom I do like.)

I'm really interested to see what Nashville and Boston will do this week. (Arizona will do nothing)
