The QC
McMann is an under-rated part of the team. Nice work on the Robertson goal. And then JT's first on the PP.

And then a heavy snapper from JT, with McMann in front. Good stretch of hockey.
He had a game tonight. Actually showed me a little more speed (not in a straight line) in some situations that could be a big difference maker if made a permanent part of his repitoir.

A well deserved win for the team, but it would be nice to see them start on time.
*Congrats on the hatty JT.
*Nice to see the 3rd line contributing. McMann had a good game, I thought Robertson's best of the season, and hopefully Domi can turn the corner now.
*2 out of 3 for Hildeby is a nice bonus.
*Right near the end, Nylander flying up center right, did a Buffalo player stick out the knee? Willy did the smart thing and sort of dove over it, but that was a dangerous play, I think?

"I'm disappointed for our fans."

-Tim Murray on not landing the opportunity to draft McDavid circa 2015

"We're going to deal with it"

-Tim Murray on being forced to pick Echiel at No. 2 also 2015

Is this bad luck, or a lesson to other GMs?

Maybe in his next life he won't treat a professional hockey team like a 12 year old playing EA Sports.
They should have drafted Marner.

Watched the extended highlights.. wow the Leafs had some golden chances to really open it up. JT could have had a prettier hat trick goal
The Leafs started pretty slow and were pretty underwhelming for the first 20-30 minutes but then Buffalo just completely fell apart.

Nice to see McMann actually set up some goals for a change. 1 assist through 22 games was looking pretty bad.

JT could have had 4 or 5 goals tonight

Iirc Rantanen was the trade down target if we made the Columbus deal work but that assumed the D would be gone by 8.

Trade down target was Provorov or Hanifin. Hunter loved Provorov and Babcock really wanted Hanifin.

Pretty sure babs wanted buddy who plays for vgk on the baccend drafted by Carolina

On draft day 2015 the names I remember being thrown around were Mitch Marner if Arizona took Dylan Strome at 3. Other options were Noah Hanifin, Zach Werenski and Ivan Provorov on defense. And darkhorse Mikko Rantanen on the wing but he seemed like a reach pick. Some of those names would have been trade down scenarios.

Yeah but iirc the trade down was contingent on Marner/Hanifin going 3rd, Strome to CBJ, then Marner/Hanifin at 5 and Werenski/Provorov at 6 and 7.

I think if Sabres picked MM, Yotes will pick Eichel, we would pick Strome as Kadri was the only youngish C in the organization.

There is no way at that time, Leafs would pass a 6’3 200pounds C.

They might also trade down but still think they would drafted Strome
