Glad they won. Great game from JT and depth players.

Somethings gotta be wrong with Matthews. Dudes shooting accuracy is just not there. He’s also looked slow at times. I actually think he’s bringing Marner down and I never thought I’d say that
It seems so. He is getting chances every night but he misses the net quite a bit.

I have no proof of nothing, but I know what back pain feels like and looks like. Looks to me like Matty has a back issue... I cannot describe how it affects every movement in your body. He just looks a bit labored by it. Oh he can still dangle and dance but it takes a few seconds of pushing against pain then an exhale at how much it hurt. Just what it looks like to me anyway.

It's better that Matthews is getting more and more looks this week. Pittsburgh was probably his worst game of the season. More jump, starts and stops, at least going for the puck battles. But it's little baby steps and not enough.

Going for the empty netter when you account for all the context of him having a shaky game and it being his first game up in a long time showed some moxie. I dunno if Berube is gonna see it the same way but I’d rather that mindset and raw technique than the Campbell/Reimer gentle giants.

I'll take the bravado attitude over the "I'm not worthy" all day long.

They finally break out with some goals thanks to Johnny T and the 3rd line.

Played a physical game which is needed if they have any hope of a second round appearance.

The first game in awhile there has been some secondary scoring, even if it did take playing Buffalo at home to realize it.

They never seem to make it easy on themselves by constantly falling behind early.

We can forgive Hildeby’s shaky start for his daring attempt at the end of the game. Hockey is fun with people like him.

-We've been waiting for a game where the team takes full control over a bad opponent. Crappy first, but dominated afterwards

-3rd line was incredible, and I really hope something is there. That will solve our secondary scoring issues; all 3 players certainly have the talent. We'll have to see how they perform defensively against a good team (like Dallas on Wednesday)

-Curious to see if the Knies/Nylander switch sticks for a bit.

-4th line is useless with Reaves. They need to stop playing him.

I am VERY uncomfortable with Hildeby but he's 2-1 and that's all you can ask.

It's about damn time Robertson did something, he was R3ALLY good today.

Where has THAT been?

Leafs retain top spot in the Atlantic, if only they had won yesterday they'd be 4 up on Florida right now, I kind of feel like this weekend is a bit of a missed opportunity.

HOPEFULLY this game sparks the offense and they start scoring consistently.

The Leafs will win the Atlantic regardless. The whole Eastern conference is a gift this season. Mediocre from almost top to bottom.

"I'm disappointed for our fans."

-Tim Murray on not landing the opportunity to draft McDavid circa 2015

"We're going to deal with it"

-Tim Murray on being forced to pick Echiel at No. 2 also 2015

Is this bad luck, or a lesson to other GMs?

Maybe in his next life he won't treat a professional hockey team like a 12 year old playing EA Sports.

Tavares looked vintage, best game of his season. 3rd line was cooking too; Robertson may not be producing much so far but he's bought into Berube's game.

Loved Cozens temper tantrum with a couple minutes left.

Between Eichel, O'Reilly, Reinhart, Kane, Bogosian, Hagel, Ullmark, McCabe, Okposo, Rodrigues they had a lot of good stuff go through that system during the first part of their rebuild.

BTW Leafs are now 6th overall, 5 points behind 1st with a game in hand. With all the warts we've shown under a new system with a ton of injuries... not too shabby!

Dynamite at home, not good on the road. Would love to see at least "meh" on the road, but with all the injuries, yeah this could be a lot worse right now.

He's been doing it for 7 years like clockwork. Can't say the man disappointed in any year of his deal. Massive UFA contracts so rarely work out but he is MR consistent. Said it before if his salary was an 8 instead of an 11 he would be given more respect. UFA is what it is.
