To Toronto for Matthews and 5 first round picks.

;)
Realistically though...if the oilers had to trade mcjesus, who do you think their #1 target would be?
I think you are 2 first too high, even with the extra 2 years of term

Do you guys think if that the Oilers miss the playoffs this season that McDavid will quietly ask for a trade?
LOL, I can just envision Holland saying, yeah sure Connor we don't want to stand in your way or anything after all this is Edmonton, players are dying to come here.

They don't have to move him even if he asks for a trade. I don't think a trade will happen regardless.
Player movement/empowerment in the NHL is a little lacking compared to the NBA. If McDavid wants out and just doesn't play the Oilers will at some point have to do something.

Edmonton is going to have a chip on their shoulders, if the leafs can match they'll win and Edmonton will be in a big hole. What could drive the leafs more than putting a stamp on the north division. Huge game for both teams.

McDavid will have something special for Toronto even if it’s an empty rink. They need to be on their toes defensively and hopefully Matthews and Marner out gun them too. Attack them wherever Tyson Barrie happens to be.

Hopefully Morgan doesn't get undressed again by Mcdavid but it's not like a lot of good Dmen don't also end up on one of his highlight reels

Montreal torched them pretty bad and we beat the Habs so by hockey math we'll win this game at least 6-2 with a Matthews hat trick

I need someone to burn Barrie bad, like how Matthews did Zaitsev in the first meeting between Zaitsev and his former team.

The PK has been solid but this is the test, because this is Mcdavid and Draisatil, keep the solid defensive play up, keep the PK going

The annoying part is that the Oilers got 7 powerplays. 7?! I can't remember that every happening with the Leafs and being a much better team it should happen more often.

Instead the Oilers have lived on the powerplay since the media outcry over infractions on McDavid, which is pretty ironic given they're leading the charge on being mad at the notion those crosschecks should have been called on Matthews.

Ah well, you can always count on Western Canadian hockey fans for Leaf obsessions especially when their team is trash and they're wasting a generational talent.

McDavid drew 0/7 penalties last night, and was charged with 1/5 penalties the Oilers took.

2019-20 powerplay opportunities (rank by team)
.....
20th. Edmonton Oilers (200 total PP, 2.82/game)
...
23rd. Toronto Maple Leafs (195 total PP, 2.79/game)
....

I am not giving an opinion, just posting the stats.

Does anyone know why Caleb Jones and Ethan Bear are not playing? I feel like both those guys should be among the Oilers 6 best defenders.

Jones has been really bad so far, Russell's a lot more steady. Bear had a bad game against Montreal, but Tippet scratching him was definitely a head scratcher. You'll find that most of HFOIL disagreed with the decision. He played #2/#3 minutes last year at 5v5 and he played them pretty well.

Reading their board it seems the Oilers have been using Barrie in a defensive role with lots of d-zone starts!?!?!?

Kind of. Nurse - Bear had a really bad start to the season and Nurse - Barrie was tried out as a pair afterwards. Surprisingly it actually worked pretty well. Nurse was forced to play more conservatively and Barrie took charge of the breakout. Our D-core will (ideally) look like:

Nurse - Barrie
Koekkoek (He's been really good so far) - Bear
Russell - Larsson

So yeah, not great at all lol.
