With Virtanen being sent back down to Utica, I'm assuming the nucks aren't too happy with his development. Everyone knows Toronto is in need of a top 4 rhd and Vancouver is in desperate need of offense so my proposed deal is,

To Toronto-
Tanev
Virtanen

To Vancouver-
Jvr
Carrick

I think this trade gives both teams what they are looking for and helps them achieve what they ultimately want.

Virtanen sucks, so this is the basis of a Tanev deal? Tanev is not going anywhere.

And that's exactly the reason Vancouver is spinning its wheels.

Don't get me wrong, as a Leaf fan I have zero interest in speeding up the rebuild and Tanev is a shortcut. So in my opinion, the Leafs should have no interest.

I can see why some fans would be interested in this proposal though

I like Tanev and would be happy to trade for him but only if it makes sense.
It has to make sense for Vancouver as well.
Leafs aren't sending pretty much their only scoring LW (who by the way would be the Canucks leading scorer) plus this, plus that, plus whatever.

The Leafs are not in win today mode. If a deal for Tanev is too rich, Leafs can wait for UFA season and see if players like Alzner,Kulikov,Stone are available. Or perhaps another option presents itself. A deal for Tanev is there but again, it has to make sense.

In what world is Tanev wortth JVR straight up.. let alone adding.

I like Tanev. he is a good d man. But a #3 Dman is never ever worth a top line 6'3 27 yo winger on a good deal that puts up about 55-60 points a year.

JVR in his prime... 30 goal 60 point monster winger and Carrick a future top pairing d-man. No sane person thinks this favours Vancouver

Tanev first off is a top pairing D who is one of the better shut down guys in the league just ask TOR fans that watched him play with Reilly which are them all are offers for Tanev in the off-season. Second is JVR even playing 1LW on the leafs this year? I heard he was 2nd line with Marner. Also that good contract is 1 year after this year and likely looking for a raise because it's his last chance to get paid.

I don't know what world JVR gets anyone to not hang up when asking about a top pairing D

I think a lot of fans have a hard time calling Tanev a bonafide top pairing defender when he has never put up more than 20 points in a season.
Other defensive minded defenseman (Vlasic for example) still play very well defensively while putting up multiple 20 and 30 point seasons.
That is why I think people don't value Tanev the same as Vancouver fans do.

I'm a CBJ fan and I value him highly haha we just dont need him here or I'd offer something a lot better then a aging winger and Carrick. One guy said Carrick is a future top pairing D. If Tanev isn't a first pair guy how can Carrick at his ultra peak ever be more then a 2nd pair.

Just how old do people think JVR is?
He's the same age as Tanev by the way. So what do you want offered for an aging D?
By that logic, I guess Foligno,Hartnell,Atkinson,Dubinsky are all set to retire next year?

We aren't trading for a top pair D or we would have to trade more then that if we we did. Also wingers develop faster then D. Tanev is in prime years JVR is on his way out.

Need one of Marner, Nylander, or Matthews going back. Actually wait Matthews is a bust now, one of Marner or Nylander going back.
