That Steve Kouleous (sp?) On the NHL Network on Sirious was seriously condescending to Leaf Nation in his analysis of the Knies hit, saying Leaf Nation has revealed themselves as being as knowledgeable about hockey as the Florida fanbase.
And typical to all hockey media, convrniently tailoring the facts of the incident and then assigning positions to Leaf Nation as if we have a spokesperson who expresses our ond and only opinion on thd matter.
A lot of Leafs fans still don’t understand the hit. Many actually think he jumped and clearly it wasn’t despite still images of his feet on the ice creating a snow shower at the point of impact.

It's really close i think the skates leave the ice immediately after the impact, my main issue is i belueve the initial contact eas to the head, i dont have the rule book commited to memory but those head contact rules regardless of how they are written are there for the players safety. Head shots are an unsafe aspect and should be virtually eliminated from the game. Not some cleverly worded rule, opening the door to allow certain types of headshots provided they are delivered like Whitecloud delivered his. Knies head isn't doing any better today because Whitecloud delivered this perfect "by the rules" head shot.

This is the issue I have with it. The hit itself fell within the rules, however, contact to head was made (not principle). Not sure why that matters? It should still be a penalty. Lots of penalties are as a result of an unintented play (trips, high sticks, etc.). It's not 5 min worthy but I would like to see a double-minor for hits that result in clear contact to the head. So then everyone can be happy right? The hit in itself is legal, the contact to the head is not. Sometimes the rules are not right and need to be ajusted... I mean, this is based on the NHLs stance of creating a safe playing area for the players. Otherwise, their words are just that. If they really cared, they'd make adjustments.

TL;DR - Hit clean by the rules, rules need to be adjusted.

Leafs media is often cast as homers but there's not a chance in hell any of our beat reporters, columnists, or analysts would tweet something like this out if the names were reversed. Just shameless from Matheson.

Why do so many Leafs flans feel they need the media to kiss the ass of the team? Why do people even are what people in the meda say? Do you actually respect those media members so much that their opinions are important?

I have more respect for the opinions of many people on this forum than I do for literally anyone in the media.

Why? It’s not like he is saying nuggent Hopkins. He’s not wrong about that.

Because the tweet had nothing to do with the Oilers lol. He's not wrong but it just looks pathetic and weird for a reporter to act like that.

Can you imagine Masters or CJ quote tweeting an unrelated comment from a small account to pump up the Leafs? Of course not. The only one I could see doing that is Simmonds, who is justifiably reviled.
