I probably wasn’t clear, I think we’re in agreement. With Apple having an openly gay CEO, I doubt they would bid on the NHL rights anytime soon in light of the NHL‘s recent actions as you described.
If Apple thinks it can make money, it won't care about pride tape.

The media in this city is absolutely toxic, the less the better. If I have nothing better to do I will catch a game here and there and promptly tune out during intermissions. Shame we can't have something similar to the TNT broadcast. A bunch of former players having fun while analyzing the game and chirping each other. Nah, not in Canada, everything here needs to be introduced with a Ron Maclean monologue about the Bare Naked Ladies or some other mediocre Canadian band nobody cares about outside Canada.

Hockey Night in Canada would last about 1 episode in the US before it was canned. Ron MacLean would fit in a better as a UK soccer broadcaster. Hockey fans, and frankly North American sports fans in general, no longer want cerebral hosts. They want Shaq and Barkley, and it's not hard to see why. They are infinitely more entertaining than Ron MacLean. The dumbest thing CBC ever did was turf Don Cherry. Yup, he is probably a bigot and a guy that is 40 years behind woke culture, but he was good for a laugh during an intermission, and he kept you watching. I think all intermission Canadian hockey broadcasts are unwatchable at this point.

I heard that and thought Avery was a little ridiculous. Not sure if it’s his stick but he came off as such a hater during the beginning part. It’s different from other guests do that was interesting to listen to.
He definitely doesn’t like Spezza but it sounds like he doesn’t like him based on what he’s heard from Shanahan.

He also mentioned Doan could succeed Treliving.

How? Wear a rainbow jersey on warmup? Somehow not surprised by the shit take here
The NHL doesn’t want to define every letter and symbol that is represented. Despite asking for two years I have yet to see anyone define them.

Friedman is worth listening to for rumors. I like the TSN intermission.

It was funny early hearing Matthews snub Simmons

Overall the media does blow here.

I really do like the TSN intermission. Yes sometimes Duthie can be goofy and the quiz as a whole is goofy. But during the actual analysis parts, I feel like they hit the nail on the head a lot. Idk, maybe I've just been conditioned to prefer TSN. But I find the Sportsnet analysis, other than the Hotstove rumours, to just be very simpleton. Like things anyone and their dog would say. TSN to me digs a bit deeper, but again, I do believe over the years I've been conditioned to be TSN biased.

I don't think it's conditioning at all.

The show is just more engaging, I don't dislike Duthie just because I know the other options out there, if that's bad to anyone, please show me better in the NHL landscape.

The reason pride tape is banned is because it's an eyesore and is distracting.
It has nothing to do with homophobes.

look how distracting this crap is.

It would be hard to keep track of the puck with this crap on

Those are definitively not from the NHL, just look at the blade. No curve at all, even warm up sticks players use close to their game curve. The second picture actually looks painted not taped.

Streaming Wars are so hot right now they will get whatever makes them a profit, Apple, Amazon, Netflix are all the same. If Apple can make money off the NHL and stop the others from getting it they will.

Apple answers to it's shareholders.

I can't stand Friedman. A complete rumor monger. Professional sports would be a lot better if rats like him were treated with contempt. How anybody can have respect for that rabble rouser just boggles my mind. I love Matthews snubbing Simmons, wish they would do it all the bozos in our so-called 'media'. Jonas Siegel and all the other clowns from The Athletic (LOL) are also pretentious douche bags. Pure jock sniffers, never played a sport in their lives. I have more respect for Mr. Garbage Time Superstar Frankie Corrado than all of those media pricks combined.

Duthie admitted the quiz is pre-formulated and the answers tend to be different for each analyst. Lost all credence for me when that was outed (although I sensed that was the case all along).

TSN's intermission is also way too cookie cutter. Duthie passes it over to Poulin, who looks straight into the screen and talks. Next up is Pounder, who does the same. Rinse and repeat. There is no genuine flow.

Also, personally, I find it a waste of time having the panels on every channel dissect the most mundane of plays of a period I just watched with my own two eyes. In a day and age where replays are shown repeatedly and you can find these plays on YouTube or TikTok moments after it happens, I find it unnecessary. But I guess you gotta chew up 18 minutes of intermission time with something.

I'm gonna get the name wrong here but my buddy basically was apart of some professional get together for the Jewish sports or something community and he got to hear Friedman talk. Friedman basically said that he wished it could be similar to the NBA where you could speak more about what you're hearing.

I know a couple of people that were in the business and it kind of checks out, you can burn bridges fast so if you're him and you don't wanna piss anyone off.

I don't think I will change your mind on it and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Dreger bothers me way more, fills in some time on the TV or radio hits but basically says nothing and basically says "It could happen but maybe not" - okay great insight lol.

Absolutely, Apple continues to do business in China, despite their questionable human rights record, including gay rights.

If Tim Apple sees $$$, he won't give two hoots.
