Tim and Sid were great on The Score and the uncut podcast 10+ years ago but were never good once they signed with Sportsnet, they had to be more PC and Sid just became a parody of himself. I understand why, he did it for ratings, but it got bad. Tim is a great talking head though, I can't imagine he's long for Sportsnet much longer either but he'll land on his feet.

Is that a better gig than he had? Or is he tired of sports?

It pays more and is easier? Sid is turning 44 in a month, it becomes hard to act like a manchild when you start pushing 50. It's tough to portray a cartoon character as you age.

I won't miss Sid Seixeiro, as his schtick got old real quick, and Tim Micallef was really the only reason I would watch/listen to them.

Anyone catch overdrive yesterday ?
I really need to start ignoring them again, as O-Dog was going off yet again. This time crying and complaining because he was having technical issues and people were asking him about it. Pulled the "if one more thing happens, that's it I'm done for the day, It'll be the Hayes and Seigel show moving forward". My 8 year old Daughter acts more mature than he does.
I saw that. I can't tell if he's joking or not sometimes. That one seemed particularly weird because he knew that Noodles and Hayes would return and he'd only have to talk for 5 minutes or so.

I also didn't like him defending Dubois. He's okay when players don't act professionally when "they want out" and have had enough. Maybe I'm a boomer but that irks me. Always be professional no matter what the situation.

I know, eh! He’s probably been that way all his life and needs a good tuning.

Isn't this move by Sid a step backwards? Prime time show to morning show?

Anyways - Sid is an idiot. Love Tim. I could see Tim transitioning into a broadcaster. Great voice. Smart man.

I'm 34 and had to completely stop watching Tim and Sid because of how much of a loud obnoxious moron Sid is. Sid also had the gall to make a comment about Stephen A Smith a couple years ago when Sid does the same thing.
Lots of these guys are obnoxious though. maybe not loud but definitely obnoxious. Cowherd, Bayless. Stephen A. definitely loud and obnoxious but I dont mind him.

Maybe the show will become watchable without Sid. I can't stand that guy.

This clip is one of the worst.

Can I ask why this clip is the worst??

I'm not going to watch the entire thing but watched for 6 solid minutes and I don't know what is bad about his take at all?

In fact, it speaks to something I see in here all the time - that Leafs' fans are one of the most sensitive bunch of fans I've ever seen. Anyone that calls out the Leafs or isn't a cheerleader (the Jim Hughson rants come to mind) there seems to be a huge faction of us that are so perturbed and upset and hurt, and it's sad.

Ignoring Sid's delivery, which some people obviously won't like as a matter of personality, what did he say that was bad? He sounded BANG ON to me. Leaf fans notoriously get so giddy over nothing-burgers, overrate their players, overrate their team, etc etc. We still haven't won a playoff round since the early 2000's, we still haven't had even an average defence unit, we weren't winning anything with Jake Gardiner being a top 4 D-man... like I'm so confused what was so wrong with this clip other than it possibly leaving some fans butthurt.

Did you actually think the ratings for a Tim and Sid show on Sportsnet was even in the same ballpark as the ratings for Breakfast Television on City? I'm sure he's being offered a ****ton more money for the BT gig.

We just got Willy, Mathews, and Marner. A batch of top notch players. We signed JT. Things looked up for a change. Real hope to build a team.

Bang on? Seriously?

He felt optimistism in leaf fans and he felt he had to bring up 1967? What's the point? And the fact that we hadn't won a series? Thanks Sid we forgot, we needed another kick.

And then he goes on to harrang that HE SIGNED NO ONE of the three were signed. Big whoop man they weren't due to be signed. This was before the Nylander signing saga started.

Wtf is the point of this rant, and he looks mad too. What's the point? He didn't make a point, just an angry rant to press on leaf fans wounds because we saw hope in the future.

Tasteless. Pointless. f*** Sid.

Pretty much. That rant from Sid came after Tavares's 1st pre season game in his Leafs career where he scored. They then showed some tweets from Leafs fans getting excited, and tweeting stuff like Leafs will win the cup now which clearly were sarcastic tweets. Sid thought they were serious and got all mad and thats why he ranted.
It makes Sid look even worse that he thought they were serious tweets. How could he not recognize that?

To be fair the clip doesn't show what he was reacting to. If in fact it was Leaf fans bragging about a pointless preseason game or extrapolating anything from it, then where is the lie? It sounded more like a Leafs fan that is upset about other Leafs fans making us look bad for acting like idiots when we still haven't won anything worthy of ANY value.

Again it's not clear what he was responding to but the sentiment seems correct to me. How did he not make a point? Seemed clear his point was that this team has literally done nothing worthy of a fan base bragging about their team's prospects of winning a Cup or being legit contenders. As far as rants, that's what he does on the show and always has done. Like I said that's more whether you like his personality or not.

Nonsense, this crap gets repeated so often.

No one rants about Cuthbert, Miller, McKeznie, Ferrraro or a host of others than aren't "cheerleaders".

How is it exactly nonsense when the only complaint I've heard about Hughson in here is that he is somehow anti-Leafs? How is it that I'm a longtime Leafs fan from the Gilmour days and never once noticed Hughson's anti-Leafs bias, nor even want a Leafs cheerleader broadcaster? We have always had them for the Raptors and it gets pretty cringe at times. But truth is, there seems to be a lot of Leafs fans that don't like objective takes or sentiments that could paint the Leafs in a negative light, ie. something likely more based in reality.

We'll have to agree to disagree here - this is just one example, but I've seen it throughout these forums for a while (prior to joining too when I only followed the forum). I'm not speaking for you, or all Leafs fans, just a large group I've seen. It's my opinion based on my experience, you can disagree from what you've seen if it's much different and that's fine.

Sportsnet continuing to prove that firing McCown was the worst idea in Toronto Sports Media in decades. Maybe ever.

Likely the greatest radio sports show in the country's history, and they pissed it away to this...whatever the heck this is they have now. Highest ratings to barely nothing. I bet the savings from McCown's salary are far outweighed by the loss in advertising revenue.

Getting rid of McCown made Toronto sports radio completely unlistenable. Yes, that includes OverDrive.

I was referring to the "anyone who isn't a cheerleader" as nonsense. There are many people in the media who aren't "cheerleaders" who no one rants against. I named a bunch of them.

Hughson is the only play by play guy we regularly hear that complaint about, you might not hear it, but plenty of people do. And again, its not a blanket complaint against any announcer not named Bowen, it's Hughson specifically. That's not "anyone who isn't a cheerleader".

There a few columnists and analysts that get criticized more heavily than others too.

I also don't think that any of this is exclusive to the Leaf fans or that Leaf fans are any more "sensitive" than other fans. I've spent time on lots of fan boards from different sports around the world, and the behaviour is the same.

There are folks in every fan base who will jump on any negative comments about their team and then there are lots of other fans who only want paint their team in a negative light, even if it isn't based in reality.

Leaf fans aren't special in this regard, there are just lots of us.

This thread is usually for us to vent about some of the Toronto media (with good cause), but I'd like to give some props today and for a good reason. Carlo Colaiacovo, although not my fav guy, for years has been talking about Justin Holl. Non-stop praise as far back as 2 or 3 years ago. I remember being baffled by his non-stop praise of him. He was right.

And I'm going to vent :)

Dave Poulin just said on Leafs lunch 15 mins ago that the Leafs look like the exact same team as last year and I think he needs to get his eyes checked.
Has anyone else noticed Dave Poulin fancies himself a realist and the smartest man in the room and as such is pretty much always negative?

This team is playing far better defensively, and funny enough haven't really found their scoring touch yet. I can't speak for advanced analytics, I'm not the most well versed in that area, but it's pretty clear from the usual stats they've notably improved defensively

I don't know it felt like him just propping up Montreal with the way he phrased it all.

I missed that part, but I heard something else. Andi said something about the Leafs having too many games crammed in at this point of the year. It may not have been the greatest observation, as the other teams in the North, as Poulin mentioned, have the same schedule. But, man, was he ever a douche about it. Just non-stop laughing in the most condescending way you can imagine. Andi has patience. I would have lost it on air.

Yeah, I mean Andi says some things that aren't always the most insightful or even at times homerish, but the way people talk to her on the show is super condescending.
Craig Button and Gord Miller are the worst ones imo.

Also, I think it's potentially a fair comment to have brought up in the case you're mentioning, working within the context that going into the game on Sunday Toronto had played twice as many games as Calgary and Calgary had been sitting for 6 days. I didn't hear the conversation, but I'd assume that's where she was coming from.

I like Andi and Poulin as people, but leafs lunch has gotten worse over the years. Theyre actively searching for narratives. And providing cringe worthy opinions. I'll pass. Oddly enough, I like the dangle podcast more. Adam Wylde is a terrific moderator for conversation.
