They´re slowly becoming Spittin´ Chicklets with the golf talk.

Some of Hayes´ hyperbole is out of hand. He says, ¨if the Bills lose in NE, Western N.Y. will implode.¨ OK, relax man. They only lost 3 Superbowl games in a row. The team is still there.

I like him overall but he is also the king of wishful thinking - or some other term that describes someone who constantly tries to push the positive, but clearly delusional spin on a situation, move, decision etc.

One memorable example: When Kawhi was deciding where to sign Hayes went on about how Leonard and his wife were sight-seeing in Toronto as a sign he was likely going to stay. No, that's what you do when you're about to leave a place for good. He also pointed out a half-dozen other reasons that were similarly flawed thinking.

Kawhi was never going to sign in Toronto. No chance, but Hayes kept banging the "he could be staying!" drum over and over to the point I wanted one of his co-hosts to slap him out of his daydream.

Hayes is really bad. He pretty much just a mouthpiece for the popular opinion of the day, which is probably why he is so popular. However his opinions and hot takes swing based on the general mood of Toronto fans and I am not sure he is capable of formulating his own opinions. TSN probably tells him to spoon feed the general population, and I guess that works.

I find Hayes inconsistent. One day he will like a player and the next day claim they suck. That kind of thing.

This is pretty much what I mean.

It makes him sound like he knows absolutely nothing about hockey (or any other sport he talks about). Which I am sure is not entirely true, but it is 100% his fault for creating that perception of himself.

EDIT: I am pretty sure the formula for Overdrive is Hayes spews out the hot takes and popular opinions, McLennon is the antithetical "voice of reason" who is the contrarian to Hayes, and O'Neill is mostly just there to be the comic relief... Either by being outraged about something or talking about how it was when he played.

And so it begins...

I hate steve dangle so much. Some of what he says has merit for sure, but he's just another Rogers Pin Up Doll at this point.

Take an Indian rubber ball....throw it in a small room off the wall and shut the door.....Thats Steve Dangle..just bouncing off the walls. There is no content his rants...just crazy talk.

Face it if you watch its to see what weirdness is on todays menu.

Nobody really watches him because he has anything overly useful to say. He does say some good stuff but his main schtick is just to scream at the camera and be super energetic about pretty much anything.

Nobody goes to him with the intent of saying "Hm, that was a good point".

Well I said a few pages back that no TOR media is safe from being ripped. I even said Hayes was due to get his, and so here we are.

They are subjected to scrutiny just like any other job. If he does not want public scrutiny, then get a different job or do it better.

I gave a reason as to why he falls short. It is a fair and legitimate assessment. It is why I do not watch him, nor Overdrive, all that often... For that matter, I don't watch sports media at all really. Rumours, news, and the occasional journalistic endeavour (i.e. behind the scenes stories) are the only reason why I pay attention to them; most media people's analyses are rather weak.

I actually dont mind his podcast, with Adam and Jesse, lots of good content for the most part...
Me too! I was almost afraid to say it. It isn't a lot more than 3 fans just taking but there are worse things to listen to.

I find it mediocre at best, unless they have a guest on like Chris Johnson i don't find I learn anything interesting from the three of them

It's like a way less knowledgeable form of hfboards in podcast form

I tried to get into the Steve Dangle Podcast, but man its tough. They could really benefit from some additional research and critical thinking.

Steve Dangle is nothing more than a pre-packaged corporate conceived characterization/stereotype of Leaf Fans.

He has legitimate sports media background and has basically worked contract and odd jobs for CBC and Sportsnet. I wouldnt say hes pre-packaged, hes built a real career for himself.

The emotion of leaf fans trump all from what I can see. Anyone affiliated with the news media who criticizes Nylander, Andersen, Dubas, Keefe, Marner, etc. are now "factually inaccurate", "baseless", "trying to get hits and hot takes", etc.

Ha, well I suppose I don't really go in with the expectation of learning anything of substance. For whatever reason I still find it generally a more enjoyable listen then Leafs Lunch for example, but that's just me.
