I’ve been apart of it too, until game 35 I was harping on Marner like crazy, but Matthews always has excuses made for him

It’s not just “excuses” they are putting him in positions that he normally wouldn’t play.

He is high on the point on the pp or behind the net. He is not shooting. Setting up for 1 timers. Being deployed like he was when he was battling his wrist injury.

And he is wearing a brace.

Everytime he enters that conversation, he falls back and you realize that's another level.

Matthews peak level is top 3-5 in the entire game of hockey. His cruising altitude is probably 5-10 spots lower. Which is frustrating.
