I don’t understand why those few never have an opinion, don’t think for themselves. Everything is exactly how the team does it until they change it and now that is the right way to do things. It will be the same as soon as Keefe is inevitably let go.
I think we're about to get the "worst of both worlds". We'll finally win a around, then promptly get bumped by Boston, giving the DDC the ammo they need to continue the mediocrity.

Sorry, at this point, with this team, one round is not enough.

I am actually kinda not cool by how some posters sit on high horse and think other posters' posts don't matter or are of lower quality than theirs.

In general, if one believes that then there is an ignore button. In general, that poster who i quoted always finds a way to diss other posts as soon as it paints both dubas and keefe in bad light.

that said, if people don't like those kinda posts they can always use the ignore button. I mean whats the point of this board if you only want to see posts that confirm your own biases. If that gives you pleasure then thats fine don't expect everyone else to be like that
Well done.

Going all in and losing to Boston should not get Dubas an extension but it probably will.

This has been my fear for a few seasons now.

However, I feel like I’m seeing the sentiment circulating that having to go through Tampa and then Boston is so tough, that NO GM could make it happen. It feels like the groundwork is being laid for an extension regardless.

All in is a term that makes sense in poker but not so much in the NHL, wish people would stop using it. Win or lose we'll still have a team, a decent prospect pool and many picks in upcoming drafts.

If we lose to Boston then IMO it depends on how it happens. If the team beats TB convincingly and then plays great but comes up a bit short against Boston, no shame in that.

This is a game you definitely play Woll, a lot of their better guys are sitting and even their D are kinda playing off sides etc.

Yup no shame losing to this Bruins team or the Tampa team last year. Good showing vs Tampa last year was not enough. I prefer to go in a different direction if they lose to Tampa or Boston but did say it probably gets Dubas an extension. Jury is out on our prospect pool. They need to "hit" on some soon because teams like NJ, Detroit, Buffalo and Ottawa who have drafted high are closing in.

I believe Dubas is staying regardless. It’s do or die for Keefe though.
No way Dubas is extended if they lose to Tampa IMO.

agreed. but i dont see any confirmations.
but I see stuff like this ?

Nonsense IMO. You haven't been paying attention. Dubas is loyal to a fault and Keefe is his guy. He is our coach if Dubas is our GM.

And for the record yes he is frustrating sometimes but every single coach in the world will do things you disagree with. The vendetta against Keefe is unfounded. He's a great coach

Should dodge Saros today and I believe Josi is still on the shelf. They're their two best players so no excuses today. Just do what they did yesterday.

Dubas and Keefe lost me, they’re not bad but it’s disappointing to have them bend to media pressure and deviate from speed and skill to a jack of all trades team.

What worries me with going in a new direction is the same media pressure forcing whoever the new guy is to overcorrect too far in the other direction. What we need is what Burke was in Anaheim, someone who can identify one or two high impact pieces to take an already good team to the next level. What we’re probably going to get is Burke in Toronto where he tries to pivot the whole organizational philosophy and overpays to get B/C tier players that fit his new vision.

I see the usual folks lost their minds last night over a game where the Leafs were clearly the better team.

I never want to see Murray in a Leafs uniform again, but the rest of the roster played very well. Everyone makes mistakes you need your goalie to sometimes steal a save and bail you out. Last night every decent chance was in the net.

Oh and we need our PP to stop sucking ass... Means taking Rielly off of it IMO
Who would replace him though?

Liljegrens confidence is in the gutters, I don’t find it too appealing to have him quarterback the powerplay right now. The puck will bobble on him with his puck

Brodie already plays tough matchups, he isn’t suited to play pp anyways.

Gustafson, if he plays I would try there. So maybe he’s the guy to swap

Anytime we take Rielly off it feels like we start giving shorties up, whether it was 5 forwards or Sandin, the unit always gave up more chances than usual. Might just be a small sample size to use though. We need the unit as a whole to wake up and be the deadly pp they can be

PP is 2nd in the league.

I think going all in would have not included getting a first back for Sandin, or at least trading next year's first.

They went harder than normal but still kept the future a little.

Anytime you question Keefe it's "Record / winningest coach" etc etc but he's been outcoached in every single playoff series.

Different sports but I guarantee the Dubasite's wouldn't have fired Dwayne Casey and he had post-season success and won coach of the year but they felt they needed a major shake up and gave the reigns to Nick Nurse.

The reality is that Keefe has a matured group of superstars that are better versions of themselves than what Babcock had before and they pushed the team to new heights. Dubas has generally improved the D core with guys like Brodie and now McCabe.

I'd actually be texting Keefe if I was Dubas at this point and basically say "pick 12 and 6 and stop this BS"
If Dubas doesn’t do it then Shanny needs to step down out of the ivory tower and tell Dubas to do his dam job

Play the same as last night but with better goaltending and it’s a rout.
Maybe start by having 5v5 for at least 8mins to set the pace and tone, before they open a penalty box door. Instead of giving the homesite a 5/3 off the hop.

But it's the NHL, Preds need the deuce, the Leafs dont, bet accordingly

My guess is it easier and a safer feeling then having to admit that maybe, just maybe Shanny, Dubas and Keefe are not perfect and smarter then everyone else in hockey.

Yup and it's been there before too but when we need it most it looks horrible. We couldn't get a single PP goal last night and it cost us the game
PP looked great last night. Tonnes of chances. Like the rest of the game, just couldn't pop one in. Keep getting 10+ shots a night on the PP and they will score enough

Here is something that’s not an opinion but fact. In the last 10 games the Leafs are 5-4-1. Basically .500 percentage plus 1 loser point. That’s like losing every second game…….and we are heading into the playoffs. We have been a worse team since the trade deadline
we need to start winning on a consistent basis. Enough with all this experimentation time to start preparing

Dunno man, I didn't see anything that went through him, although in a perfect world he would've made up for the dmans coverage error and stopped the 4th goal.

The Leafs didn't lose because of Murray, they didn't lose because 12/6, or 11/7 or because of anything other than the failure to capitalize on the myriad of triple A scoring chances. They should have had the Canes buried by the 40 minute mark.
