Players hate it and most coaches do too.
Rielly said in his interview with Siegal it wasn't enjoyed, too much change.
Noodles, Johnson and O'Dog all said they hated it and it's hard to get a rhythm going with it.
Obviously a big piece in ROR is not around right now but we're more than capable of icing 12/6 until he comes back and some guys that you think will be in the bottom 6 can still get playing time and gain chemistry with one another, that doesn't go away.
Let's just for argument's sake, they think the lineup for game one should be:
Knies - Matthews - Marner
Kerfoot - ROR - Nylander
Bunting - Tavares - Jarnkrok
Lafferty - Kampf - Acciari
Maybe they want to stack the top 6, or maybe they want to spread it out, but this is just giving an example. Also, Knies would not be playing 20 mins a night in this scenario just for when someone says "there is no way he will be playing in the top 6", this is probably the best spot for him to thrive and allows us to spread out the talent.
You need placeholders for ROR and Knies.
ZAR can fill in for Knies, so now we have ZAR - Matthews - Marner as a line until the last 3 games.
Placeholder for ROR? Maybe Holmberg? So our second line is now Kerfoot - Holmberg - Nylander.
I just don't think it is as simple as people think to start getting chemistry for the lines.
Having said that, I think they will start playing 12-6 when ROR comes back, and have a placeholder for Knies shortly because I agree they need to start getting some chemistry, I just don't think it is that simple currently.
