It's Monty out-thinking himself and trying to avoid the mistake he made last year by not putting Swayman in earlier. In the process, he will simply make another mistake.

I think a team should have some faith in their young elite goaltender

Secondly I don’t really think it matters if ullmark has or doesn’t have confidence, his career stats show he blows in the playoffs

Thirdly, I do get this idea, but this comes at the expense of potentially swinging back the momentum in torontos favour with a big win here. Media will also criticize the overthinking and say he should’ve just stuck with Swayman

It’s not a common strategy, let’s see if it pays off for Boston

I'm not disputing it can backfire and hope it will.

A) if anything else, it shows teams confidence in Ullmark, hardly putting him in a bad spot.
B) They did that all season long, it never killed any momentum.

C ? Maybe ? How much pressure is Mitch feeling now?

Part of my point, no? Going from the hot goalie in Swayman who owns the Leafs to Ullmark just because that's what they did in the regular season lol. Last year he wasn't great and it took them until Game 7 to switch to Sway. This time Sway was solid and they switched anyway.
