Over paying the top four, has resulted in icing an unbalanced team due to cap restrictions. This team has no choice but to deal with it, without any chance of improving the team. NMC has strangled them even more. Thank God I still have vivid memories of 1967 Cup win. I feel sorry for Leaf fans who will never experience it, with this lineup.

Not sure why people are blaming Samsonov on that last goal, one of the leagues best players left wide open 10ft in front of our net for a one timer… That was on Marner

It's his fault that the play happened though.

Either play it or get a faceoff. Instead he wiffs and then forces a rushed pass which almost led to a goal. Then he skates around so his team is worried about him and Boston draws up a faceoff. It was basically a free timeout for Boston on a nothing play.

There's a couple things wrong. Benoit/Knies don't transfer roles well there. Rookie mistakes. Marner doesn't adjust and read the situation, just bad awareness
Marner is covering the point. Benoit’s man is literally Pasternak and he disengages him to go cover no one in front of the net. Benoit was lost in the sauce there

SN just went through the goals.

That 2nd goal all stems for a scared player making a zombie-level-IQ play by Liljigren.

He was also a major factor in the 1st goal as neither him nor Kampf even try to clear the puck.

Benoit has been a nice suprise this season but has not looked great thru two games.

Brodie has had a rough season but we might need to somehow get him back into the lineup.
There's a few D you could swap Brodie in for. Ed's been rough (carrying a lot of PK time), Lilj is struggling and Benoit

Marner isn’t doing much but he gets no help from Tavares who can’t take passes anymore.
He also set up Matthews right in front.

If that’s Nylander that makes that play instead of Marner, people would be losing their crap even more. Realistically that is the Dmans responsibility, Marner has to cover the point
The point or a wide open pastrnak? It doesn’t take a genius to pick one, and for someone with supposed gretzky-iq he should be able to see and pick the right one

Nothing about that was cheating for offense
My apologize, stupidity was the cause of the goal. As soon as Toronto loses the puck on the wall and Beniot is pushed up, Marner needed to recognize it and drop back. Instead he's late and looks at pasta putting the puck in.

I thought we outplayed the Bruins overall at even strength, but they were better on special teams and set plays around faceoffs.

Shit way to end the period, but we played pretty well. Still a very winnable game, gotta keep up the intensity in the 2nd and 3rd and cleanup our special teams and plays off the faceoffs.

No one gives a crap about outplaying Bruins when you have mental fart and your 11M Selke winger fails to cover their 11M winger.

You can outplay them for 57 min, it means nothing if you string a couple of moments like this.

He was too far away from the position. What was the point of his dive?

Selke Elite. Maybe cover Pasta?
Maybe Benoit could actually cover his man rather than helping Knies double-team the left point man for some reason?

It so disappointing that our "stars" continue to shit the bed in the playoffs, whereas the stars of virtually every playoff team elevate their game. In 2016, if you told me this was the future for the next 8 seasons, I would laugh.

It's just so sad.

Marner shouldn't be tight on the point there, when he see's the two high he needs to release to high slot.

He knows it too, but it's too late and the pucks in our net.
