This has the potential to get real ugly real fast from top to bottom this is still Brian Burke's train wreck.
As far as the Leafs goaltending goes the league has figured out how to beat Reimer top shelf under the arms and five hole and Scrivens is right off an AHL bus.
The defense is still the soft run around it's own end circus on skates.
The forward group is still without a #1 centre if you can believe that after 4 plus years under Burke.
Collectively it's the same Leafs team that last season pulled off the biggest epic collapse in Leafs history and i believe Burkey hired the wrong coach for this team in Carlyle.
Fasten your seat belts Leafs Nation.
I'm not quite as uncomfortable with the team as you are, I feel they are young and inexperienced, especially in goal but if Reimer can return to his game like he was before his concussion and Scrivens can play goal, like he has in the AHL, I think they can do the job and Carlyle's system will help.
I like the defence this year more than in years past and the guys brought in from the Marlies are all NHL quality and have had some limited NHL experience, mixed in with the returning D, they may be the linchpin of the whole season.
Forwards too are improved and when a good young player like Frattin is playing in the A and not on the Leafs, it means we have a pretty good forward core, with 3 scoring lines and a decent checking line.
Over all I like the new players, can we improve certainly and a #1 center would help but if this team plays up to their potential and embraces Carlyle's system, I think we have a shot at post season.
Time will tell however and it could go either way, in any case......
Go Leafs Go!
