Post-Series Talk: Toronto Maple Leafs defeat the Ottawa Senators, 4-2

Brady Tkachuk, 4 g / 7 pts in 6 GP as well as 22 hits in his playoff debut, all while playing injured. Playoff Brady is only going to get better. Guy's a beast.
respect the effort, very plucky team. The Sens with a lil more playoff time (as a group) are going to be a problem

Thanks to the Sens for giving this Bruins fan some pleasure over the past few days. Fun to see Leafs fans sweat.

That being said, Leafs totally deserved the game tonight and it almost felt a little “dirty” how they got scored on after locking down the Sens in the third for the 2-2 tie. A nice goal, but pretty lucky/flukey also.

I’ve got no stats to back it up but the Leafs seem to defend a cycle fairly well, at least from watching this series. It’s their defense (or lack thereof) on opposing rushes that always leaves me wondering where everyone went.

Fun series, Sens fans. Most of you are great to talk hockey with.

That team is going to be a force in the Atlantic in the very near future. Need some scoring help, but not far away at all.

Thought Tkachuk, Stutzle and Sanderson were great all series long. You guys have lots to look forward to. 🍺

I dont think the Leafs deserve praise for doing what they were supposed to do. Beat Florida, then ill be impressed

Not going to brag about the Leaf’s playoff record in the 21st century, it obviously hasn’t been great. Still doesn’t change the fact that for some reason, the Sens have been a reliable stepping stone for them.

If it comes to that though, well the Leafs have exactly as many Cups as Ottawa in the 21st century. I guess the difference is that at least there are some Boomers out there that actually remember the Leafs winning a Cup whereas Sens fans obviously can’t make a similar claim. Not like that is much to brag about. At this point it would be nice to see any Canadian franchise win a Cup. Most people on this message board weren’t even alive for the last time that happened.
I’ve witnessed my favourite team win the cup twice, but I can see what you’re driving at.

I was a Habs fan until the Senators came along.

Great hustle, heart, and resilience from the Sens, very impressed by a lot of the young guys.

You guys have some excellent pieces and should be back next year again.

Well done to the second best team in the east, you needed 6 games to beat a 7th seeded team.

Get ready to be spanked by your new daddy in Florida.
Second best team in the West needed 6 games to beat the 7th seeded team. Why so much disrespect for a seven seed?

Growing up in TO, starting highschool when the Leafs vs Sens started their back to back to back to back series.

I have developed a deeply rooted, and immutable hatred for Ottawa, and especially for Alfredsson.

But, I did respect the talent and skill of that jack-ass, all the way to the Hall of Fame.
And I respect the hell out of Brady Tkachuck. I may not like the team, and will be rotting well before that changes, but I can appreciate when they have the building blocks of a bright future (which makes me dislike them slightly more).

See you guys in 12 months for another iteration of the Battle of Ontario - maybe next year it will be a 2 vs 3 battle instead of 1 vs WC1
