Post-Series Talk: Toronto Maple Leafs defeat the Ottawa Senators, 4-2

Complaining about refs when you've lost a multi-game series has always been a bad joke / low iq take to me. This series is no different. Leafs core players chose to show up and they got the W.

Ottawa's new-ish core got some good experience out of this.

The other series they battled back to force a game 7. Something the sens couldn’t do

Not hating on the kid I just hated that he was being built up as something he isn’t. Not fair to him.

Ended up being a pretty good series, good battle from both teams. Sens didn't want to go quietly. Just too many mistakes from the Ottawa side. Sanderson and Knies were very impressive young guys in this one. Benoit really upped his game too. Batherson I thought was complete junk.

Wasn’t incredibly graceful but they got it done . Sens have a very nice core developing , I could see a deep run coming soon . Florida presents all kinds of problems . Gonna be a very rough one ( both physically and mentally ) . They are a load

Yeah I think with another year under Stutzle/Tkachuk/Sanderson's belt the Sens are going to be a problem as early as next season. Let's hope their owner is cheap in free agency.

Fun series, Senators fans should be proud of their team. Made the playoffs and played a tough game. 2 OT losses in there, that's a big experience for your guys young team. You'll be back here next year, cheers.

Good season by the Sens. Some standouts on each team in round one:

Leafs:
- Knies (pay this guy, chases everything down and gives it 100% on significant and insignificant plays)
- Nylander (core 4? core 88. offence goes through this guy)
- New core 4: Tanev, Ekman-Larsson, McCabe, Beniot (block shot, block shot, keep players to periphery, block shot, more periphery play... Berube's system shined through these guys)

Sens:
- Sanderson (hands-down the best Senator in all aspects of the game)
- Tkachuk (delivered on expectations, knocked in pucks and knocked down players)
- Greig (pesky all over the place, hard to shut down, will continue to improve his game)
- Batherson (...just kidding, so much frustration with his game, room for improvement in a lot of areas)

Which one is it? Bettman hates Canada and the leafs or likes the leafs and gifted them imaginary power plays. Or is it whatever fits your narative?
