BTW, Alvaro Rey from Xerez looks solid. http://www.wakingthered.com/2013/7/24/4552692/toronto-fc-to-sign-spanish-winger-alvaro-rey

Scores the free kick at the beginning and the assist at 0:25.

If this is the guy we end up with as a DP, after the Forlan letdown, and the cap space clearing moves that got rid of O'Dea and Silva, I will be done with this team for good.

Nothing against the guy, but he plays for a division 3 team in Spain, he is no where near what Forlan is, and he could not justify the above mentioned disappointing moves.

It would be like a KHL team signing a player from the ECHL and telling their fans "we signed him from America," allowing the fans to think he's an elite league (NHL) player when he is NOT.

Thought this was unstickied for a reason. I was a big supporter of the club when it first came, but it's not worth paying money to see. Losing every game, lack of defence and offence don't make for a good product. This team gets little interest, I haven't watched a full match since they were eliminated in the semis of the champions league a couple years ago.

He is not a DP. However, this is the first season Xeres has played in the third division since 2000. Their relegation is probably the reason they had to sell Rey, he was probably on wages that were too high for a third division team. You are overrating the MLS pretty highly here.

A second division talent will do well in MLS. The MLS is not the KHL of the soccer world, not even Elitserien or SM-Liiga. MLS is AT BEST on par with Liga adelante.

I am going to guess Forlan never wanted to come to Toronto, he knows the team's history and didn't want to be involved, especially in a crucial year. If he came to Toronto, his selection in the WC was pretty much over. Besides, this team does not need a savior DP like Forlan. Getting Diego would be all good and well, but then you have to take into account the sheer lack of talent everywhere else on the field besides a few players (Laba comes to mind). Who is going to give Diego the ball? The team needs improvement everywhere else with good young players, this is a step in the right direction. Lambe wasn't cutting it on the wing, and adding Rey will provide an upgrade in one area of the pitch.

I kinda made it to have a 2yr long sticky lol I don't like tfc

it's almost embarrassing how quickly Vancouver and Montreal came in and established themselves as contenders.

I won't care about this team until they show me something I watch enough soccer as it is..

Hard to watch this joke of a team when I watch the EPL. Not that I'm comparing the two, but it seems like MLSE thought after the first season it was going to be like the Leafs cash cow where they could throw out whatever crap they wanted and still rake in the dough. They badly misread that and now they are years behind actually doing it well and they have to rebuild a reputation and can't actually get players to come here now that will make a difference. Looks good on them and I will never pay another dollar on tickets or merchandising until they show me playoffs. Doesn't appear I will ever have to spend money there though.

I'm a huge Milan and Serie A fan and found in unbelievably fortunate that Nesta and Di Vaio went to Montreal. To be honest, with Milan's CB's right now, an old Nesta would still be better than what we currently have in Milan.

TFC won a game at home? Congratulations! (from a Whitecaps fan)

Born and raised in Ontario, but moved out to BC in 2009 and quickly came attached to the Whitecaps (only Vancouver team I cheer for)
