Imo it’s obviously a (possibly chronic) back issue, when’s the last time you saw his patented double pivot on the boards? Almost every goal he’s scored since he got back has been from a squared up stationary position. He can’t get any power on anything resembling a twisting motion.

If I were to guess at what happened it would be he hurt himself vs Detroit last year when he crashed into the boards on the 70th goal attempt and screwed soenthing up, derailed his 70th goal pursuit and ruined our playoffs campaign and has been dealing with something ever since. Maybe that’s causing the sensitivity to wanting to keep things private cause came on a very individual pursuit.
