Is it possible Chayka is even worse the second time around?
WowGod, I hate being a Leafs fan sometimes.
We just locked ourselves into an 8-year cycle of path dependency and pure sunk-cost fallacy.
We’re pulling a Pittsburgh Penguins: doubling down on an aging core and selling our future to desperately chase a first-round exit. At least Pittsburgh actually won three Cups first to justify the downfall and going down with the Crosby/Malkin ship.
We should have traded Matthews and Nylander this offseason, embraced the rebuild, and drafted McKenna. Instead, we’re going to overpay veterans, delay the inevitable, and end up at square one in four years with zero trade value left.
Yeah it sucks to rebuild without our own 1st rounders for the next two seasons but allowing that to make us pot-committed and trying in vain to turn this roster into a cup winner ****s us for like a decade or more when it inevitably fails.
Not likely. It's probably 43, but maybe.I’m hearing he’ll be wearing David Clarkson’s old number 71 with the Leafs.
Nobody is saying he's the next "bobby orr" only that he ISN'T a 4-7 slot defenseman. He's a top pairing defenseman. He was used as a top pairing defenseman and he excelled in that role.Too late, Leafs fans don’t care what the eyes of his longtime team/organization saw and have anointed him the next Bobby Orr. Way to be a “hater”.
It's also because many Maple Leafs fans don't agree. Sure, some would not want admit it if they shared that opinion.Wow
I applause your courage for saying something that most leafs fans don’t want to admit
I think deep down every smart leafs fan has that fear somewhereIt's also because many Maple Leafs fans don't agree. Sure, some would not want admit it if they shared that opinion.
It is a possibility. One of many. So, I guess deep down they would same as smart fans from any team. Hubris is not desired.I think deep down every smart leafs fan has that fear somewhere
Why didn’t he play more if he’s so goodThe results were excellent . So yes ?
you do know the cap is projected to increase substantially these next few years ya? It's going to throw off the norm of what you think players should get.Nobody is projecting Stanley to get 6/7M. Most projections have him around 3M-4M (still too much).
Tampa had some very good d ahead of him / takes time to build trustWhy didn’t he play more if he’s so good
About as ridiculous as a 6 year deal for Brad Marchand or a 7 year deal for Aaron Ekblad. In other words, all of these contracts are ridiculous. The only contracts that have a chance to be "good" anymore are long term deals for younger guys. That's just the way it is.
Keep up that cope manTampa had some very good d ahead of him / takes time to build trust
Wow

Yea no shit the cap is going up. It's not going up to 300M like some people act around here every time we see an overpay. Bad contracts will still be bad contracts.you do know the cap is projected to increase substantially these next few years ya? It's going to throw off the norm of what you think players should get.
By 2028 it's projected to be 113.5.
I think the word is out and most players know this.

Didn't he get 26 mins a night in the playoffs when everyone other than Hedman was back?Except you are totally wrong. He played major minutes due to injuries to Hedman, McDonagh, etc. At one point they were rolling out 4 AHL defensemen. So if being one of 2 NhL defenseman makes you a top 2 defenseman, than I guess he’s a top 2 defenseman. He would have been a 5-6 on the Lightning next year.
I’m thrilled he got a huge contract. I’m even happier that Toronto was the one to pay him.
Would you say that's more or less fear than ending a 50 point season with the 3rd overall pickI think deep down every smart leafs fan has that fear somewhere
The rumour is he'll be wearing 0 in honour of Vancouver's success as a franchiseI’m hearing he’ll be wearing David Clarkson’s old number 71 with the Leafs.
Marner would have made that PP that much better.Assuming that Toronto picks McKenna, this is a pretty good #1PP unit.
McKenna - Matthews - Nylander
Radyysh - Knies or new PMD
Yup, but he is now a, Vegas Knight.Marner would have made that PP that much better.
Who’s coping ? He’s factually had good results as a defenseman the past 3 years . The fact that the only negative you can come up with is lack of minutes is very telling ..… when in fact the added minutes resulted in a statistical explosionKeep up that cope man
