Bottom line is Toronto wanted to get better. They feel like he will help them, and I agree. High risk? Yep. But you don't win by being safe.

Darnell Nurse never cracked 40 points let alone 70, so I’m not sure I see the comparison there.

This contract is less than Nurse, and signed for a much lower % of the cap at the times

Completely agree. Highly unlikely he hits 70. If he gets a season of 60 or a couple 50+ it’s a nice win

Both the trade and the $AAV are very reasonable, IMO. However, 8 years contract at 30 is very risky. I don’t think any team should be handing that length of contract out at players 30 or older, so I’m not just piling on the Leafs.

This is bad for the Atlantic. Raddysh is going to be fine at that number for a few years, and then the cap will likely catch up to the point that it doesn't hurt much.
