  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
Rob Rae couldn't say enough good things about Bogosian this morning. Great personality, hard worker, doesn't mope, a leader. I'm sold!

He also had great things to say about Simmons (also a leader in the dressing room) and Vesey (quiet, modest, and hard worker).

I was listening to 31 Thoughts today and Bogo was interviewed. He's an American, ex Peterborough Pete and a huge gym rat. Remind you of anyone else? I know that they play different positions (unless you ask Dangle), but could he be a mentor to Robertson?

I think we're going to see another move on D. My preference would be for it to be Holl moved out. If Holl could survive while being anchored to Muzzin, I think Dermott can thrive there.

Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Dermott
Lehtonen - Bogosian
Sandin/Liljeren/whomever

I think Dermott is primed for a potential mini breakout season.

We'll see. Leafs have done a putrid job developing Dermott, hope they don't make the same mistake with Sandin too.

People who think Bogosian is coming in as a #7 lol smh.
Guy just averaged 18 minutes a night on the Stanley Cup winning team. But he's a #7 on our god awful defence?haha my goodness peeps.
Dubas said he wanted to add more grit back there. We didn't go get a guy with his grit to be tough from the press box. He's only 30 years old and people treat him like he's this 38-40 year old who might help as a fringe #6. He's going to play. Make no mistake about it. Guy was logging minutes next to Victor Hedman in the playoffs. This was a great add for our team. He's playing.

To be fair, that includes a bunch of OT games including the 5OT night where he logged 44 minutes! (which was second lowest for tampa defensemen)

I think him and Mikko will be a very good pairing. Having a guy like Bogosian in the back allows Mikko to bring the puck up the ice and be himself in the offensive zone.

I think he'll do well. A guy that will either be in regularly or swap in for certain matchups. Would be a pretty solid 'next guy up' instead of...that person.

Good to have this sort of guy in the lineup. Need different types. Hopefully he can keep his playoff success rate going with the Leafs. We just got to get him there :).

To be fair, he's averaged 21:39 over his career. What's the narrative spin on that?lol he's more than capable of being a third pairing guy here and that's exactly what he'll be

I was really hoping we would sign him in the spring, and I’m really glad we got him now. I think he will be slotted in most nights because he’s exactly the type of DMan we needed in our own zone.

looking forward to seeing him in the correct blue and white.

Dermott seems to have become exactly what he looked like he'd become. He has developed well. He's a middling legit NHL defenseman with a loose body. He's too slightly built to become some rock steady defense stud. He's a good skater but he's not an elegant controlled skater with his slashing sprinting style. Name one defense stud who plays Dermott's style.

I really like the addition of Bogosian. However due to his injury history, I wouldn't pencil him in any higher than the third pair.

I also don't think Dubas is finished making moves with this roster. Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, Bogosian, Dermott, Holl, Lethonen and even Sandin is way too many dmen fighting for 6 spots.

Bogosian is a big body... watching his fights though, he looks like a pretty bad fighter. Don’t get me wrong, I like having a guy willing ... no question but he is no enforcer.

it’s great to have someone who will clear the crease though... should help get our young guys grow a few inches and begin pushing opposing players from the crease more. Same with Simmonds... would have been neat to see what the effects may have been if we kept Clifford too. Clifford, Simmonds, Bogosian, Muzzin... would be interesting to see the effects on the team culture on checking and toughness.

I think it's more important that we have guys (Bogosian, Simmonds) that will step us as our heavy & middle weights, than their competency at it.

Last year nobody wanted to stand up and be the guy who drops the gloves. Bringing in Clifford allowed Kapanen to step up because he knew he wasn't serving the role of designated enforcer.

Doesn't really matter though. Fights rarely have decisive winners, and winning isn't necessary to fire up your team. There was also only 238 fights in the NHL last year, and I bet half of those barely count as a fight.

It's more about having someone just willing to do it, on your team, than anything to do with the actual fighting.

Very true ... I would still like a Clifford type because like it or not no one wants to get hit by an enforcer ... Bogo and Simmonds can hold on and are strong enough to go with anyone but they are not gonna get you a knock out win

Ritchie would be a nice add ... nice to have a guy who can rag doll Wilson

Steve? Oof! You need better Intel.

Brent Burns on reverse steroids and with less confidence.

Basically who Burns would have been if he was raised by a normal human family instead of a wild pack of skateboarding animals who got rejected from Air Bud auditions.

Thanks for the link, never saw this fight before. That was a very even fight.... Ritchie went away bloodied, not Wilson. I would love to see someone rag doll Wilson....but this is not it.

Just a tip when you watch a fight always look for guys who are looking away and don't want to go toe to toe. Watch Ritchie go with Dillon. Dillon at least tried to go toe for toe before he got rag dolled. Wilson once he took the first big hit turned sideways and cowered. It is what we all do. Not putting down Wilson. He tried. But he is not in Reeves Ritchie and Chara weight class. It is just a different level. Clifford is close but not quite there.
