Confirmed with Link: TOR sign RD Zach Bogosian [1 year, 1M]

  • Xenforo Cloud has upgraded us to version 2.3.6. Please report any issues you experience.
So Dubas did signed a Cup winning 30 yrs old RHD.
I am really excited about this signing. For the first time since Polak, Leafs actually got an exp physical PK Dman in the 3rd pair.
It will really help with Dermott, Letho and even Sandin development.

Has he always been a closet Leafs' fan? He hails from a few miles from the Ontario border along the St. Lawrence although closer to Ottawa and Montreal. He played for the Petes.

Upstate New York boy growing up across the St. Lawrence from Cornwall comes home to Toronto...

For the Leafs troubles, we miss on Pietangelo, the 4th overall from 2008 and settle for Bogosian, the 3rd overall from 2008...

Wonder how much being on crap teams and injuries have effected Bogosian's career. He had a great rookie year didn't he. I remember him fighting Brashear and thinking this kid is either crazy or fearless.

Funny to think about that draft, but even now it feels weird because Pietro is in his prime and Bogo is a breaking down vet

Pretty funny how 3 of the top 5 picks from that draft just won a cup with Tampa Bay...

Anyway, it makes me happy to hear Bogosian bypassed other options to be a Leaf. I am disappointed that it was Pietrangelo, but playing for your hometown team is not for everybody.

And if he fails like all the other Europeans free agents, we just keep playing him just because? No thanks. Dermott is better than him right now for the simple fact that Dermott is an actual NHL player and Lehtonen is not. Lehtonen does not get the benefit of the doubt here and I have no clue why people are

Here's a list of Europeans who failed to make any sort of impact. Borgman, Rosen, Wallin , Gustavsson , Ozighanov, Lindholm , Soshnikov , Kaskisuo , Rynass , Mueller , and countless others. Even Zaitsev ended up being a failure. I'm over these "free wallets" that just fail and its not just the Europeans either, Hanson , and Irwin were major failures too
here's a new perspective for you to try out: Evaluate players by how they play as opposed to their continent of origin

Bogosian was a bear even back then... seemed to remember during the Stamkos draft he was neck and neck with Doughty as to whom would be the better franchise defenseman. One came out of the Guelph program and the other Peterborough. Pietrangelo was a step behind both and was with Niagara, while Luke Schenn was a couple of steps down from each of those guys.

Long shot, but hopefully he's rejuvenated, healthy and can have a bigger impact than we're expecting.

This confuses the shit out of me. Either Dermott is in fact getting squeezed out despite Dubas' comments (which basically means we sacrificed him for Bogosian, which f*** that), or there's still some money on its way out in the form of Kerfoot or Holl. But if Holl's out, then we have a hole in our top 4 again, which neither Dermott nor Bogosian can fill, and if Kerfoot's out, then we have a hole at 3C.

I'm ever so curious, 'cause at a glance, I'm not thrilled with this.
Whats there to think we finally got a defenseman who is physical can knock people down, nasty and clear the front of the net, play alright and if needed drop the gloves and back up Team mates and Simmonds we have not had a few guys like this in ages

They have enough money to re-sign Dermott and Mikheyev. Bogosian and Lehtonen probably battle it out for the 6th spot.

Nice pickup by Dubas! Truculence on the back end, gotta love it!!!

I'm also very proud of you Dubas supporters for not once calling Bogo a "face puncher" ...Baby steps.

Agreed, he's a bottom-pair rotation guy with a compartmentalized role.
what? the guy played on a Stanley cup team who's defense makes ours look like it came out of a bubble gum machine, 0 physicality other than Muzz it was a freakin joke to watch blue and white sweaters knocked all over the the ice the last few years even when we played the Habs for &^%$ sakes.

His Stanley Cup team was weak on the right, so weak they often dresses 7 (4RHD) because their bottom 2 couldn't handle the full load - Shattenkirk and Bogo

He was 6th in ice time amongst their defensemen in the playoffs and hasn't played 70 games since 2010-11. He's not an everyday top four guy and his salary reflects that.

Hopefully just a 7th D

Rielly Dermott
Muzzin Brodie
Lehtonen Holl
Bogosian

Sandin Liljegren
Rosen Marincin
Yeah whatever so we can get pushed around all over the ice again and not one you have listed above other than Muzz has the strength or physical to shut down the cyle, how many times guys standing infront of our net banging rebounds and no one to clear the front of the net, sick and tired of watching a 0 physical team that gets knocked around from the freakin Habs even.

Not stating top 4 but I would play him like we did Polack if he stays healthy, 3rd pair but steady shifted so guys like him and Simmonds can actually make a difference other than riding the pines
