Seney was really bad last year, but I guess he is a solid middle 6 scorer similar to Petan otherwise. Not the first guy I would have signed personally.
Even on a Marlies deal I'd still be meh
Really don't see the point of an NHL contract slot with him, but oh well, he'll be on the Marlies all year, and if he's not, he's already exceeded my expectations at that point!

Clearly looking for that pure playmaker who can stir the drink on the PP, like Bracco and Petan did in the past. Seney won't score much, but he is an excellent playmaker (last year excluded) without much to work with much of his time in New Jersey's AHL system.

Amadio played really well in preseason. Deserved contract. Could be a guy who sneakily plays a bunch of games if injuries hit like Boyd last year

Seney is meh but he did score a beauty I guess lol

Didn’t see that one coming but I have liked his game. Solid size, solid two-way game. Can’t complain for a 4th line gig most likely.

Small clip from an Athletic article 2 years ago.

As for Amadio, the ultimate endorsement came from the likes of Kings veterans Jeff Carter and Trevor Lewis in the summer.
“Guys like playing with him,” Stoll said. “Carts and (Lewis) were saying to me he is looking really good. They were fired up to see how improved he had gotten over the summer and how much confidence they can see him playing with.
“When those guys are telling me that … they just noticed it.”

And wondering if Brooks clears, if Amadio gets placed on waivers for extra flexibility?

So how much rope is Keefe going to give this guy.

I know he doesn't get paid much. I know it's early. I just figure there's got to be a better plumber than him.

Not a big deal, but eventually it will be.

i think very soon you will see a ho sang or a semyanov in for him(if he continues to not make an impact)

He's already out of the lineup. Short of there being another injury, he likely won't get in again.

Plus Semyonov will likely get a chance over him too.

honestly i think waiving brooks was more because of what they saw in ho sang and semyonov, not about amadio at all. but since amadio has nhl experience he was the best stop gap option while those 2 got some games to adjust to the leafs system a bit more with the marlies.

Spezza and Brooks have nice chemistry so going to have to disagree. Amadio looks like he's stick handling in mud when Spezza passes to him. Jays wild card was a good reminder that every game matters. Should have just pushed Brooks the extra 3 games before finally having no choice but to finally decide what to do with him when Matthews comes back. For all we know Brooks could have had one of his sneaky goals in game 2 and we're 2-0-1 or 3-0 instead of 2-1. These little things add up even though 4th line is more or less irrelevant when viewed on a single game basis.

no point in playing the what if game, because for all we know he could have cost us a game and we would be 1 - 2. all im saying is i believe it was more brooks vs. ho sang/semyanov, not brooks vs. amadio.
i like brooks but losing or keeping him likely doesnt impact wins and losses more than any of the other guys.

I guess I see it like this.

A: In a bit of a flux with the 4th line. Just send out guaranteed chemistry developed last season.
B: In a bit of a flux with the 4th line, let's be random and put in Amadio.

You are right, option A can go bad too but if you're just making decisions on the fly, it seems like the better option.

i think the chemistry thing is overblown, spezza dragged that line to some very good games. just like he did last game vs ottawa with simmonds and amadio. again, i like brooks, but after the preseason i liked amadio too. to me it just looks like they are giving a new player with similar upside but more size, strength etc a chance for a few games to see if he can carry on his strong pre-season play. but in the wings they have 2 players whom they probably liked better than brooks too. dunno, only time will tell.
i personally want to see what ho sang can do on the team, and i think long term he has a good chance of being much more impactful overall
