Well, he's definitely an upgrade over Freddy. The team needed a tandem, at least this is done. But damn, that capspace is dropping fast.

Was hoping for 3.5 but 3.8 is fine. I am a little worried about running two goalies with injury history....

I don’t mind Mrazek at all. Decent AAV/term and a good platoon option.
Goalie position for 5,5ish with Hutch as #3. Fine by me
any combination of Nick Ritchie, Michael Bunting and Nick Bonino would be great. If by the grace of God we can get Getzlaf as the 3rd line C that would be amazing too
I like our tandem for the price. Campbell was great last year but he's still a bit unproven and these 2 should be able to push each other.

His career stats are worse than both Reimer and Bernier's, both of whom were run out of town.
He's a decent tandem guy, but he's not a great goalie. Which is fine, we don't have much capspace, and he was one of the better options available. But I do think expectations should be tempered.

I think they were worried about getting bent over by Campbell next year if he plays well and we have a Back-up signed for only a year. We would be like Carolina is now...stuck without a goalie if both of them put the screws to us. Mrazek is a good platoon goalie and its not a bad deal. It looks to me that they don't fully trust Jack enough to just get a back-up on a 1yr deal.

I like the signing, Leafs have a pretty solid goal tending partnership. Definitely Freddie is going to cost more than that

In recent years? Mrazek has been much better. The biggest concern for Mrazek is staying healthy. That year in Philly was awful for him and that Philly team was awful where had a .890 and 3.22 GAA 4 years ago.

.914% and 2.38 GAA -- Mrazek
.906% and 2.80 GAA -- Reimer
.908% and 3.03 GAA -- Bernier
Bernier is the only one that played on an awful team and still did pretty solid.

I would bet on Ullmark and Grubauer making at least 5AAV. In my opinion Mrazek was probably the 3rd best UFA, so I dont mind the signing

Yeah, not sure what is so great about him. Prefer him over Bernier or Jones but not a big fan of the terms.
I'm good with Mrazek. I was hoping for 3M.. but for 800K extra it's a mediocre player. It was pretty much expected IMO Mrazek would command in the 2.5-3.5M range.
The way I look at it. We're paying under 6M for both goalies which is a luxury most teams do not have! If we can find value on forward like Michael Bunting it'll net out and allow us fill out the bottom 9

I neither love nor hate this addition and contract. Certainly a better, recent track record in comparison to some of the other options the team have been linked to. Will be a different feeling to go with a tandem moving forward. Hoping the team has an effective pairing on its hands.
