That was my first thought. A player who knows their role, and allows us to try Engvall up with Tavares.

I think it would make more sense to play with Jarnkrok. They can split center duties if they want, and they are both have high end speed and two-way ability. Add in a guy like Malgin at RW, who is also high speed and can provide the playmaking while not being too bad in his own end, and that is going to be a lot for lower lines to be able to handle at both ends of the ice. Better than the 4th line we had last year.

I think Kerfoot ends up getting moved.

ZAR - Kampf - NAK would be the new shutdown line. Won't provide much offense, but they should be suffocating defensively and provide useful toughness... Not Clifford and Simmonds.

One of the cheap, leftover UFAs I was hoping the Leafs would sign. I'm surprised he couldn't get a contract elsewhere, but it seems like the Leafs will sign him once their roster/cap situation shakes out.

Serviceable checking-line player. Engvall - Kampf - ZAR should work in a defensive orientation.

Got no clue how good of a 4th liner this guy actually is but if he's as everyone is describing, it will be a welcome change to having Simmonds/Clifford on the 4th line pretending to bring a physical presence.

Im shocked he's a PTO level player. I assume the Leafs will give him a contract once the dust settles on their cap.

There was Hoffman a little while back who signed 4m after PTO. ZAR is definitely above your typical PTO player tho

It's very easy to dump a contract for nothing in return if needed. Teams do it all the time.

Whoever deserves to be in the lineup deserves to be in the lineup, irregardless of how they came to be at Leafs camp.

May the most deserving guys start the season.

I think Robertson is challenging Kerfoot for the 2 LW spot more than he’s challenging for the 3rd line, and definitely not for the 4th line.
