If you've watched 1/3 of the 14 games NYR have played, you would know there isn't a chance we're trading Lindgren and replacing him with Robertson, just to clear our some space for next year. He's a warrior and a pretty important part of our defense. ....
I hear you but you are ignoring #s do not lie, we desperately need Vatrano even more than Copp, and we have no one else to trade due to nmcs, etc.
Do the math.
Show me how we pay for new Zib+Fox $$ and then manage rfas + add.

This season proved we need depth at F.
Emergence of Chytil w/correct Ws as I predicted is a winner, and Vatrano is key to that.
Replacing Strome at last w/Krav will help, and we have some potential elc guys but they are not replacing big $$ guys.

And we need bridge deals for guys like Kakko. Not doing that is NOT an option.

Trouba, who can be replaced by Schneider who can be replaced by Nils L, and Lindy, who can be replaced by Robertson, both have to go.

Lindy in particular I hate to do it, but it has to be done.

bold: you ignored where I said: "FL may send Reinhart + Weegar to OTT" which would = cap space for Trouba at 6, and they would need him esp if Weegar goes.
Also nothing wrong/illegal about telling a player, look you got us, do us a favor now and we owe you one when you retire, on top of favor we will do re: your wife's gig. If he says no, which is his right, then when the shoe is on the other foot and they trade him in 2 years, they do not have to apply any consideration as to any preference he may have at that time, and he will be moved in accordance with the contract.

Your hate for Lindgren, who is not a bottom pair D is ridiculous.

It will cost to move Nemeth but ballpark that will be a wash vs Geo rfa rights.
Ya pretty sure that’s illegal.

I lost faith in this site if rangers fans are so biased that they believe in a vacuum Schneider is worth anywhere’s near Fiala, Nylander or Ehlers.
its not as simple what's behind door #1 or #2
the flat Cap is real and rosters need all roles filled well to succeed

a big-ticket wing is not a priority for NYR, they have Bread and Kreider
there are genuine Cap constraints
and ELC guys who can play minutes are how teams can deal with Cap compliance

but also, fact is, everything Schneider has done last couple years
- hold his own in AHL while OHL was off in '20-21,
then be top d-Man in the W,
seamlessly transition to NHL,
points to a guy deserving of being a top 20 pick and trending up quickly
and as RHD with a physical game and some O, has much value -
just look at all the threads here about RHDs being in demand - Myers, Dumba, etc
who you keep is as important as who you import

Geo's rught are worth a 5/6th at most. He's a back up goalie. Nemeth will cost you a TON more than a 5th lol.

And Trouba still has a MNTC after his NMC expires, if he wants to stay in NY he'll just includr ebrty rebuilding team / team with cap space on his list and bingo, can't trade him!

And why would the Panthers send a ppg forward with a dman superior to Trouba for a pick? Just to get a dman that's worse than Weegar?

The honeymoon on Vatrano kind of ended. The only reason to keep him over Copp is money, not because we desperately need him more than Copp.

I dont see a world where we are good trading partners with the Rags unless we are tweaking our farm teams.
Pretty much this.

Rangers would likely be looking to move on from Gauthier (RW), Hajek (LD), and Georgiev. All are RFAs.

Otherwise we would be looking at one of our defensive prospects for a center prospect.

we disagree in good faith then
I value Copp highly, but we need a sniper. Also, when bread exits in 3-4, if we have 4-5 of Vatrano that helps, even tho Panarin flips back and forth between shooting or passing, primarily.

William Nylander
Petr Mrazek (50% retained)

:leafs

Ryan Reaves
Alexander Georgiev
Braden Schneider
NYR 1st 2022

Rangers shore up high octane output on their wing from Nylander who is a PPG player in his prime while Kaako continues to figure it out, as well as a goalie in Mrazek who has some experience to back up Shesterkin and won't face a lot of puck to preserve his angel hair pasta groin.

Leafs fortify their fourth line with some serious grit, get a quality tandem goalie waiting for a pay day who will likely get around 2-2.5M$ per, plus a really good RHD prospect and a late 1st this year knowing that 2023 is a better draft class. And, yeah.... cap space to address other issues.
A big no thanks, Schneider is going nowhere and Nylander is too soft.
