To Toronto:
Jordan Greenway (1 year @ 2.1 M)
2022 4th Round Pick
2023 4th Round Pick

To Minnesota:
Travis Dermott (2 years @ 1.5 M)
Nick Ritchie (2 years @ 2.5 M)

Why Minnesota does it?
They add a puck-moving d man from the same draft that would easily slot into the top 6 and top 4 if need be. Ritchie was more for cap purposes but they get a big body back.

Why Toronto does it?
Upgrade on Ritchie at LW. Greenway is a playmaking power forward and would slot in nicely on the second line beside Tavares and Nylander. They also save some cap space.

Thoughts? Is there even a fit here?

why are the wild adding picks? if this trade is made it looks like TOR is asking as we dont have a need for a LHD currently. Kulikov has looked just fine and could step up into our top 4 if need be. If Greenway is going out the door, picks and prospects are coming back, not cap.

Isn’t Greenway a 3rd liner?
Yeah but he has solid upside. 6’6 players at his age with offensive talent and skating are worth more than Dermott and Ritchie. Dermott is maybe a 4D at best, Ritchie is bad

Greenway's first 3 NHL years, per 82:

24 points
34 points
47 points

In the positive for a lot of the fancy stats. One third of what was an excellent matchup line last year, which is apparently being put back together again tonight.

Weird start to this year and he's frustrating to people that think he should be scoring more or knocking guys through the glass with a 6'6" 240 lb frame , and he might be a cap casualty during or after this season, but I don't think that Dermott and Ritchie really move the needle in any way, especially if we're tacking on picks along with him.

In what world does the Wild need another LHD? They've got 5 already. As far as PMD, they've got Spurgeon, Dumba, Brodin(yes he is a PMD), and Addison down in Iowa.

Ritchie gives them nothing. Greenway has been off to a slow start, but that's partly due to injury. This offer does nothing for MN. If he doesn't get his game together, i suspect that Greenway will be traded for a 2nd at the TDL for a team needing size going into the playoffs.

Wild are adding to Greenway for a 4th liner and 5D?

Big LWs, pedigree, 25-26, 0.4-0.5 points per game in the three years leading up to this one, career years last season, disappointing starts this season, currently playing limited roles at about 12-13 minutes per game, both take too many penalties.

If Ritchie is a 4th liner, so is Greenway.

with posts like this I'm sure Wild fans will fall all over themselves for Ritchie - especially in exchange for Greenway

odd man out and underperforming/lacking consistency.

Thank you. Too bad because he has all the makings of a solid power forward no?
Remember just a year ago, didn't seem like he was available with most MIN fans.

I'd hold onto him up until the year before free agency at least in hopes of hitting another career year.

Nearly a 50pt pace without PP time?
24yrs old, still has the late bloom potential.

How's his skating holding up being that big?

He might be pushed out before then with the salary cap and the ELC's vying for forward spots.

His point total was inflated from the line he was playing on. Eriksson Ek and Foligno were doing most of the heavy lifting there, and both had crazy high shooting percentages, but Greenway is a good passer and when he's on he's great at getting and maintaining possession. He's a good skater, not great, not fast, but strong.

Don't expect 50 points from him. He can't shoot the puck to save his life. I'll be shocked if he ever eclipses the 15 goal mark. But a strong power-possession game is what you can expect from him when he's on. As others have said though, his main problem is consistency. When he's off though, he's pretty much worthless.

So greenway has solid upside? And Dermott doesn’t? Both the same age and D take longer to develop.
